    Aliko Dangote, the Nigerian billionaire and chairman of Dangote Industries, announced the group would expand its investment in Ethiopia. The billionaire already has a cement factory in Ethiopia, which he built at the cost of 600 million USD and installed a production capacity of 2.5 million tons. The factory commenced production in June 2015. Commenting on the development, the company’s sales and marketing head, Mesfin Abera, said Dangote Industries decided to expand its project at the existing plant. The expansion work will be carried out at the cost of 600 million USD and have an annual production capacity of 2.5 million tons, he furthered.

    Ethiopian Roads Authority last week signed agreement with two Chinese construction companies to upgrade the Kombolcha-Bati road to asphalt concrete level. The 133 KM road project is estimated to cost the Authority close to 2.8 billion Ethiopian birr. Construction of the road, which is scheduled to be completed in three years time will be fully financed with a fund secured from the World Bank.

IMARES and LEI, both part of Wageningen UR, will provide technical and economic knowledge and market intelligence.

    The African Import and Export Bank (African EXIM Bank) is planning to convene its annual general assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in May. The bank's general assembly meeting will be held as a sideline event of the Diamond Jubilee of the African Union which will take place in May 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The African Export Import Bank (the “Bank”) was established in Abuja, Nigeria, in October 1993 by African governments, African private and institutional investors as well as non-African financial institutions and private investors for the purpose of financing, promoting and expanding intra-African and extra- African trade.
