Fashion Stakes Spring 2026

The Australian Turf Club (ATC) have announced the details of the Fashion Stakes competition for 2026 as follows: Royal Randwick A dedicated Fashion Stakes Entry Point will operate at the following racedays at Royal Randwick, located adjacent to the Theatre of the Horse: Sydney Surf to Turf Day – Saturday 19 September TAB Epsom Day – Saturday 3 October TAB Everest Day – Saturday 17 October Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day – Saturday 24 October To register, have your photo taken and submitted for judging. Registrations will close at 2.00pm on each raceday, with the exception of Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day, where entries will close at 1.00pm ahead of the Grand Finale. Live heats commence from 3:00pm on each raceday, except for Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day, when they commence from 2:00pm. The Grand Finale will take place immediately following the live heat

Looking for an excuse to get dressed to the nines, here is a list of all the major racing carnivals happening over the rest of the year. Running over seven Saturdays from 2 May to Saturday 27 June 2026, Brisbane Racing Club’s Stradbroke Season features Fashions on the Field Competition on: Sky Racing Derby Day – 30 May 2026 (theme: black and white) Seven Oaks Day – 6 June 2026 (theme: Soft colour, florals and sophisticated glamour) Ladbrokes Stradbroke Day – 13 June 2026 (theme: black and white with a touch of red) Royal Ascot in the UK, runs from 16 to 20 June 2026. The inaugural Colour of the Year for the 2026, which racegoers are encouraged to wear is ‘Bright Tomato’. My entry into the Melbourne Cup 2025 VRC Lillian Frank AM MBE Millinery Award was inspired by the road trip I took around Australia this year. This headpiece reflects the stark beauty of the Red Centre—where spiked Spinifex mounds scatter across iron-rich red plains under piercing blue skies. Handcrafted cotton wattle blossoms reference Australia’s iconic national flora, a symbol of resilience in the harsh desert landscape. Crafted entirely on the road—in our bus-turned-studio—it features over 300 individually hand shaped feathers, layered across a sculpted wire brim and button. A quiet tribute to Country and movement – a distilled expression of the vast, textural beauty of Australia’s interior. Spring racing has launched and now is the time to start planning your outfits. Here is a rundown on this year’s spring racing fashion competitions. Melbourne Cup Carnival Fashions on the Field The Victorian Racing Club (VRC) has announced that their Fashions on the Field competition is going global this year being open to everyone, everywhere. Categories remain the same Best Dressed and Best Suited Awards. The digital competition has already closed but racegoers are able to enter in-person at Flemington across the first three days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Best Dressed is defined as a well-considered special occasion race day outfit, but not a suit. Best Suited is defined as, a set of outer clothes made of the same or co-ordinated fabric and designed to be worn together, typically consisting of a jacket and trousers or a jacket and skirt.
