    Brussels (Belgium) | 24 July 2026 New motorcycle registrations in five of the largest European markets (i.e. France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK) reached 636.490 units during the first six months of 2026. This represents an increase of approximately 16,8 % compared to 2025 (545.127 units). Motorcycle registration volumes increase in Germany (114.849 units, 27,6 %), in Spain (141.101 units, 23,6 % year-on-year), UK (54.962 units, 15,8 %), in Italy (220.776 units, 13,2 %) and in France (104.802 units, 6,4 %). During this same period, moped registrations reached a total volume of 72.076 units in the six European moped markets monitored by ACEM (i.e. Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain).     ACEM welcomes the TRAN Committee vote on the Roadworthiness Package and the decision to make periodic technical inspections (PTI) mandatory across the EU for motorcycles above 125cc. Removing the Member State opt-out is an important step towards a consistent safety framework. ACEM has historically supported including all L-category vehicles within the PTI framework. Mopeds and light motorcycles up to 125cc serve essential daily commuting and urban mobility functions across Europe and face the highest usage intensity. The current scope still leaves a gap, and we will continue to engage with the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission to ensure the final scope of the Directive reflects where the road safety need is greatest while not forgetting the environmental dimension. This represents an increase of approximately 21,1% compared to 2025 (207.126 units). Motorcycle registration volumes increase in the countries monitored by ACEM with Germany (45.549 units, +44,5% year-on-year), Spain (58.027 units, +26,8%), UK (23.079 units, +16,1%), in Italy (82.049 units, +14,3%) and France (42.058 units, +10,2%). This represents a variation of approximately -12,9 % compared to the same period in 2024 (1.150.852 units). Motorcycle registration volumes increase in Spain (242.580 units, +8,3 % year-on-year) while in other markets, results remain negative for the current year with for Italy (331.634 units, -6 %), for France (179.225 units, -16,4 %), for UK (89.645 units, -19,3%) and for Germany (159.764 units, -35,7 %).     Brussels (Belgium) | 30 October 2025 The European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (ACEM) welcomes the publication in the Official Journal of the European Union of the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/1455, amending Delegated Regulation (EU) No 44/2014, and the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/1535, supplementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2847 (Cyber Resilience Act). With these two delegated acts now published: L-category vehicles* shall comply with the UNECE R155 on cybersecurity requirements. These requirements will apply from 11 December 2027 for new vehicle types, and from 11 June 2029 for existing vehicle types. Consequently, L-category vehicles* will be excluded from the scope of Regulation (EU) 2024/2847 (Cyber Resilience Act) Both delegated acts will enter into force on the twentieth day following their publication in the Official Journal of the European Union
