    It’s been confirmed that the Acura MDX Type S will no longer be offered after the 2026 model year. Reports suggest the pause is tied to uncertainty surrounding new EPA standards for the 2027 model year, which could impact the Type S and its more powerful 355-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged V6. For 2027 and beyond, Acura will apply many of the premium features and styling elements found on the Type S to other MDX trims, allowing some of the model’s upscale and sporty character to carry over into the rest of the lineup. With the MDX Type S going on hiatus and the TLX Type S discontinued in 2025, the Integra Type S will be the only Type S model remaining in Acura’s lineup.     According to MotorTrend, a recent press roundtable with Acura executives offered a glimpse at where the brand is headed — and there’s some good news if you love cars. “The plan is to keep sedans in our lineup,” said Gary Robinson, Acura’s vice president of auto strategy. “They’re core to our lineup. If sedans in general went away entirely we’d have to reevaluate, but the segment has stabilized.” There weren’t any specifics on which sedans could be coming, but the Integra is expected to get a replacement around 2029. The next MDX has reportedly been pushed back to 2031, with the ADX following in 2032. That doesn’t mean they’ll remain unchanged until then, though. Finished in Matte Titanium, the sleek coupe features dual hinge butterfly doors, active aerodynamics and a distinctive new lighting signature. A new report from Automotive News suggests Acura is targeting the Lexus TX with a new flagship SUV, internally referred to as the “Acura XL” in a Honda document. The new three-row SUV would slot above the MDX and is expected to feature an all-new large-vehicle hybrid powertrain, giving Acura a larger, more premium offering in its SUV lineup. Production is reportedly slated to begin in September 2029 at Honda’s Lincoln, Alabama, plant.     Acura is headed to the 2026 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, competing with the Integra Type S DE5 race car and leading the field with the Acura MDX Type S as the official pace car. Two-time Formula Drift champion Dai Yoshihara will be behind the wheel of the Integra Type S DE5, while two-time U.S. Olympian and Team USA Bobsled pilot Kaysha Love drives the official MDX Type S pace vehicle. Competing in the Time Attack 1 (TA1) division, the Integra Type S DE5 will sport a special Acura 40th anniversary livery.
