  1. (Levens)kunst op Aegina
    Jun 20, 2026 · original
(Levens)kunst on Aegina Originally published in the Summer Edition of the Dutch Griekenland Magazine in June 2026 Text and photography: Wytske Roodbergen English adaptation for web publication The Art of Living on Aegina Byzantine Frescoes, Minoan Sculptures and Vinyasa Yoga The appeal of Aegina as an island is undeniable. Time and again, Griekenland Magazine finds its way back here. Lizzy Koster experienced that same attraction when she arrived on Aegina in 2002 and gradually built her life and work on the island. “Since last winter I have been a certified yoga teacher and I now organize yoga retreats.” In the yurt, located on a nearby plot of land, Lizzy’s versatility and creativity come together. “Here I can create my own world.” Lizzy Lizzy is an intelligent, colourful woman, as well as an energetic and involved hostess. Picking up guests from the port of Aegina Town? No problem. Dri
  2. I Don’t Need a Pendulum, I Have Good Intuition……
    Jan 13, 2026 · original
“I Don’t Need a Pendulum, I Have Good Intuition……” It’s a sentence I’ve heard quite a few times. Sometimes it’s said because people feel the pendulum is a beginner’s tool. Other times because they want to make decisions independently, without depending on anything external. Underlying both is often the same assumption: that intuition should be enough — and that a pendulum somehow limits freedom instead of expanding it. In my experience, this isn’t about intuition being wrong, or the pendulum being right. It’s about depth, structure, and how clarity is actually formed. What the Pendulum Actually Does The pendulum is not only a structuring instrument. It makes the invisible visible. It allows information that is normally sensed vaguely or emotionally to be organised in a clear and practical way. With the pendulum, you can work through a series of questions, compare options, and look at dif
  3. When Truth Needs Permission to Exist
    Dec 13, 2025 · original
When Truth Needs Permission to Exist A reflection on how truth is filtered in our world — through science, law, media, and authority — and what happens when reality is larger than the systems we’ve built to explain and control it. We’ve Been Trained to Recognise Truth in Only One Way Most of us have learned, quietly and consistently, to trust truth only when it comes from an approved place. Over time, this training becomes invisible. We learn to wait for validation before allowing ourselves to know something, to distrust what cannot be clearly explained, and to dismiss whatever falls outside the accepted framework as unreliable, irrational, or even dangerous. This conditioning shapes how we think, how we speak, and how far we allow ourselves to question. It teaches us that truth is something external — something granted by authority — rather than something that can also emerge through li
  4. Uncovering the World, Uncovering Myself
    Dec 5, 2025 · original
Uncovering the World, Uncovering Myself A reflection on truth, perspective, and what awakens when you stop seeing the world through the container you were born into. Leaving a Country Is Easy — Leaving Its Lens Takes Years When I left the Netherlands twenty-four years ago, I believed I was simply relocating to Greece. What I didn’t realise was that although my surroundings changed, the Dutch lens I had grown up with remained firmly in place. My thoughts, assumptions, judgments, and interpretations of the world were still shaped by the country I came from. Only many years later did I begin to understand that physically moving does not mean mentally or emotionally stepping out of the worldview you were raised in. That shift happens slowly, and almost invisibly, until one day something inside you begins to question everything you once took for granted. The Turning Point: The Greek Crisis an
  5. The Pendulum — A Tool to Make the Unseen Seen
    Nov 22, 2025 · original
The Pendulum — A Tool to Make the Unseen Seen An underrated tool that reveals far more than a simple yes or no. In this reflection, I share how the pendulum helps reveal what we cannot see with the mind — the old stories, emotions, and patterns that quietly drain our energy. It’s a simple, down-to-earth way to connect with the higher self, understand why things are as they are, and reclaim the clarity we often lose along the way. How Energy Speaks When something painful or overwhelming happens, we don’t always process it in the moment. Sometimes we don’t have the tools, the time, or the inner safety to face it — we’re simply trying to survive. So the body steps in and stores the emotion somewhere deep inside until we are ready to face it. You can often see this later in life: • in the shoulders or neck of someone who seems to literally carry the weight of the past • in the lower back whe
  6. Pendulum & AI: Two Unlikely Partners in a World That Punishes Questioning
    Nov 14, 2025 · original
Pendulum & AI: Two Unlikely Partners in a World That Punishes Questioning Clarity is becoming rare in a world full of noise, pressure, and conflicting narratives. In this reflection, I explore two tools that seem opposite — AI and the pendulum — yet both restore something essential: inner authority, aligned decision-making, and the confidence to trust your own perception again. AI: Empowering or Manipulative — Depending on How You Use It AI is not neutral. If used passively, it mirrors: Google bias mainstream narratives manipulated search results cultural assumptions Used like this, AI becomes just another system telling people what to think. But AI transforms the moment you engage with it consciously — not as a superior intelligence, but as a sparring partner. When used intentionally, AI can: challenge your assumptions sharpen your thinking expand your perspectives deepen your questions
  7. Healing is not a Biohack
    Nov 6, 2025 · original
Healing Is Not a Biohack Deep Healing begins when you feel the emotions you once suppressed A personal reflection by Lizzy — founder of Aegina Healing A World Obsessed with Speed In a world obsessed with speed and optimization, healing has become something we try to manage, track, and perfect. We measure our sleep, monitor our steps, and search for instant ways to reset our nervous system. But true healing doesn’t happen through shortcuts. It happens through awareness, honesty and time. Healing is Not a Shortcut Healing is not something you can hack. It’s not a quick fix, a supplement, or a vibration you can download. It’s a relationship — with your body, your emotions, your energy, and your past. It asks for patience, presence, and a willingness to feel what you once avoided. When Hacking Becomes Escapism For many, biohacking has become a new form of escapism. It offers the illusion of
  8. Why I’ve Always Asked “Why”
    Nov 2, 2025 · original
Why I’ve Always Asked “Why” A personal reflection by Lizzy — founder of Aegina Healing Since I was very young, I’ve often wondered why we have to go through so much trouble here on earth between birth and death. Why life can feel so heavy at times — filled with challenges, heartbreaks, and lessons. For a long time, that question came from self-pity. I felt that life was unfair. Later, it turned into anger — because I still didn’t understand the why. Why did I have to go through so much hardship? Had I done something wrong? It wasn’t until 2015 that the puzzle of life began to make sense. That’s when my intensive spiritual journey began — and the blame I carried slowly transformed into understanding. When the pendulum entered my life, everything changed. It became the tool that turned my “why me?” into clarity — the key that helped me see the invisible connections between experiences, emo
  9. Tips for Keeping Your Holiday Home and Family Safe While Traveling
    Feb 1, 2022 · original
Tips for Keeping Your Holiday Home and Family Safe While Traveling Getting the Most out of a Vacation If you just go to New York City for a night, are you really going to get a “feel” for this bustling metropolis? And while we’re on the word “metropolis”, its notable the word’s etymology is rooted in Greek; it breaks down to “mother” for “metro” and “city” for “polis”. Have you been to Greece? Have you taken a weekend in Athens before; and would that be enough time? Certainly, it’s better to spend a day in a famous metropolis like NYC or Athens than never visit at all, but it would be better still to spend a week. Yet even with a week, you’ll be unpacking and getting acclimated for a day, then you’ll be packing up for a day at the end, leaving you only five days; and should one turn out to be a “lemon”, that’s 20% of your trip. What would be better is spending a full month in Athens; may
  10. 8 Things to keep in mind before renting a car in Greece
    Jan 4, 2022 · original
8 Things to keep in mind before renting a car in Greece Why do it? Renting a car will give you a lot more freedom to explore one of the beautiful islands of the country, but also the mainland without too much hassle. This is a way more convenient way of traveling than relying on public transport that is actually known to be questionable in Greece. What to expect? In the majority of countries in Europe, including Greece, people drive on the right-hand side of the road. You use the left to overtake and most of the same rules that apply in your country will also apply in Greece. For example, drinking and driving is illegal, you need to wear a seat belt, and even road regulations are very similar. Paying for Tolls Major roads in the country are filled with toll booths. You will have to pay for each one of them while traveling, but the good thing is that they are usually very cheap, just arou

Unfortunately, traveling also has specific risks and dangers attached to it, due to customs and laws being unique from one country to another. Facing legal problems and other types of serious situations in foreign soil can make things more complicated than it should be, mainly due to the language barrier. But don’t worry, you’re not completely helpless. Here’s what every traveler should do when facing a legal crisis overseas. What Happens When You’ve Committed An Offense Abroad First, you have to know what happens when you accidentally have a brush-in with the law. 12. Feminine and masculine energies
    Mar 8, 2021 · original
Feminine and masculine energies Everyone is born with feminine and masculine energies. They don’t have a gender inherently assigned to them but humankind associates Yin with the feminine. Yang with the masculine. There is no good or bad here. Both energies make up the very essence of who you are; and everybody has a different percentage of both energies. Masculine energy without feminine energy isn’t complete. And vice versa. It benefits your own well-being when you understand the importance of establishing harmony of both energies within yourself. It’s also beneficial for the harmony in your relationship when you are able to recognize these energies in your partner and understand which role they play when you are in conflict. Feminine energy Feminine energy nurtures qualities: intuition, creativity, compassion, understanding. There’s a receptive and open feeling in this type of energy.

The World Health Organization defines burnout as a real condition, and with work getting more stressful every year, it’s important to take a break every once in a while. However, more often than not, traveling makes us more tired than relaxed; physically and mentally. With all the planning, packing, and logistics of moving from place to place, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of decisions. Not all travels are meant for rest and relaxation, but it’s important to carve out that time to refresh your mind and body from the daily stress of life when you’re on vacation. If you’ve always been used to a hectic schedule, here are a few ways to unwind on your next travel adventure: Plan What You Pack This may sound like a no-brainer, but packing for a trip can be one of the m
  14. Would you like to see less stray cats in your neighbourhood on Aegina?
    Feb 23, 2021 · original
Would you like to see less stray cats in your neighbourhood on Aegina? You can help this happen! Animal Protection Aegina Agistri (APAA) must, regretfully, stop neutering stray cats because we have run out of money. In the past five years we have neutered thousands of cats and we are finally noticing a difference. Vets report less pregnant cats. We may be close to reaching the 55% of the population being neutered before the population decreases. If this is true, it is even more important to continue neutering and prevent the next breeding season which will bring more kittens. So we are reaching out to the community in Aegina for your support. All of us benefit if we continue neutering cats. Please consider donating – any amount will do. You can donate via paypal or our Alpha Bank account. Paypal account: Paypal.me/apaa Bank name: Alpha Bank Bank account number: IBAN GR 54 0140 161 016 10

Keep your spirit up The advantage of being locked down on Aegina island is that you can easily find your freedom in nature. Though not always easy, as this lock down is already going on since November …. For physical and mental health, it’s really necessary to keep your spirit up. Try to see the light by doing things that bring you joy. For me, that’s walking far away from everybody in the mountain area in the middle of the island. I love being close to nature, enjoy the stillness and get happy from the beauty of the flowers. I also like making these short videos. Have faith, the truth will always come out. Don’t let fear lead your way! Stay strong in these complicated times! Join me, my daughter Isabella and 3 of our 4 dogs, on our walk from the Monastery of Chrysoleontissa to the little church of Agios Leontios. It’s an easy hike. Feb 2, 2021 · original
Whether or not you get vaccinated, get informed! Below information is a summary of the extensive research done by Nelly Psarrou: Vaccination, like any medical action, requires citizen consent. Consent is not regarded as valid if it is not fully informed, nor “ if it is the result of deceit, fraud or threat, or conflicts with the demands of decency” (Medical Code of Ethics, Greek law 3418/2005). Failing this, the consent is waived and the person/body who has exerted the pressure or extortion to vaccinate is subject to penal sanctions and/or civil damages in the event of harm. Vaccination is not a prerequisite for the exercise of any other institutional requirement, such as education or otherwise recognized basic right such as the right to employment and free movement. Correspondingly, no private company has the legal authority to impose restrictions violating citizens’ constitutional righ
