  1. USPTO First Action Allowance
    Jul 29, 2025 · original
Breakthrough patent enables dramatic improvements in aircraft efficiency, range, and maneuverability while opening door to entirely new aerial vehicle designs Redondo Beach, CA – July 29, 2025 – Aerofex, Inc., a pioneering aero technology company, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a rare First Action Allowance in just under eleven months for its groundbreaking thrust vector control technology for propeller-driven aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The patent, number 12,371,154, titled “Thrust Vectoring Propulsor,” represents a significant advancement in aerial vehicle propulsion, control, and efficiency. Receiving allowance on the first office action – especially at the speed it was prosecuted, demonstrates its novelty and potential. The patented technology introduces an innovative approach that enables almost any propeller d
  2. Thrust Vectoring Evaluation Kit
    Jun 21, 2025 · original
Redondo Beach, CA – June 20, 2025 – Aerofex, the developer of transformational thrust vectoring technology for UAVs and aerial robotics, today announced the launch of its Thrust Vectoring Evaluation Kit designed for researchers, universities, and OEMs. The kit provides everything required to characterize vectored thrust for specific applications and represents the simplest embodiment of the technology, enabling single-axis vectoring of an unshrouded aircraft propeller. The flight-worthy kit consists of three primary assemblies along with comprehensive integration supplies, allowing researchers and developers to quickly begin testing and evaluating thrust vectoring capabilities. This launch is timely, as existing drone platform technology appears to have reached its apex, with many manufacturers struggling to differentiate themselves from their competition, or to significantly advance per
  3. Aviation Forum
    Mar 21, 2025 · original
Aerofex, a pioneering aerospace firm based in Los Angeles, has been chosen to present at the 2025 AIAA AVIATION Forum, scheduled for July 21-25 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company will present a technical paper titled “Thrust Vector Control of Propeller Drive Craft,” authored by their Chief Technology Officer, Mark De Roche, during the “VSTOL-02, Developments in Modern V/STOL Technology” session. Aerofex has developed transformative thrust vectoring technology for propeller-driven aircraft, an advanced capability that enhances stability, control, and efficiency across various aerial platforms. The forthcoming presentation at the AlAA AVIATION Forum will delve into the specifics of the thrust vector control system, and its applications. Through Aerofex, Mark De Roche and his team have developed and flight-tested multiple heavy-lift manned and unmanned VTOL aircraft with unique capabilities.
  4. Drone 2.0
    Mar 21, 2025 · original
The multicopter drone has reached its peak. It carried the revolution in drone technology – a revolution in software, sensors, and controllers. With motor-propeller pairs fixed to the body, it was arguably the simplest of VTOLs. It is primarily a microprocessor and software construct – an ideal development platform for what was achieved. However, it does not scale well in cost, size, or utility. Smaller industrial versions cost close to $550 per pound of payload capacity, which grows to $845 as they get larger. By comparison, a small helicopter can carry an even larger payload faster and farther at a price of $774 per pound of capacity. In practice, after twenty-five years of development the largest multicopter drones are expensive two-seaters. Several companies are innovating to increase the capabilities of multicopters and perhaps crack the code of scaling: PteroDynamics’ Transwing and
