- Colour Blocking
Nov 18, 2020 · original
The quickest way to get noticed is to colour clash. This is the art of mixing together unexpected shades of block colour. There was a saying “red and green should never be seen”, but those days are gone. My personal favourite is hot pink and orange. Colour-blocking is taking colours that are opposites on the colour wheel. Put together they create interesting and colour combinations that can spice up your wardrobe. A tip is to use darker shades to disguise areas you don’t want to draw attention to and slimming stripes to create a column of colour giving an elongating effect. I was a huge fan of Princess Diana. I fell in love with her and watched her evolve from a very young self-conscious Sloane into a style icon. She was on the cover of Hello every week and I bought it religiously. With the new series of The Crown – I hope they will be able to portray some of her effortless style and beauty. And do her justice. The post The Crown appeared first on A Fancy Dress Party . - The Treasured Gem

Pearls are officially back and trendier than ever! Personally I don’t think pearls are ever out of fashion, but then I’m biased. We’re talking classic pearls, baroque pearls and everything in-between. Mix and match them, adding interest and texture, and layer them up like Chanel – the more the merrier. Although some might think of them as conservative or classic, you can actually wear pearls with a modern twist. They are incredibly flattering, they lighten up any look and go well with all styles. You will keep wearing them for much longer because the classic pearls are timeless. The post The Treasured Gem appeared first on A Fancy Dress Party . - Woman’s Weekly

What a nice surprise it was when I was stopped and asked to describe my style and be photographed for Woman’s Weekly. This was a few weeks ago when shopping was easy and we didn’t realise where we would be now. I was very touched to be asked and seeing this has brightened my day. I’ve always been addicted to magazines and so being in one is a bonus. They will always be one of my five a day! The post Woman’s Weekly appeared first on A Fancy Dress Party . - Cowboy Chic

Cowboy boots, wide brimmed hats and fringed jackets are nothing else but Western style. This season they’re making a comeback on the high street. I’ve had mine for a long time and they’re now seeing light of day again. These are pink with embroidered flowers and crystals. The best Cowboy boots are those with a lot of detail allowing your feet to do all the talking. They are your wardrobe staple for 2020. Different necklaces flatter different people and different necklines. Take into account your entire body, the shape of your face and body type. For instance a choker suits those with a good jawline and a swan-like neck. Most people suit the Matinee length, 20 to 24 inches. It’s like wearing a v-necked top, it will elongate your neck and draw the eye down. Take into account your own personal style and wear what you feel makes you good. Accessories can make or break an outfit. The post Finding Your Length appeared first on A Fancy Dress Party . - Tie-Dye
Jan 18, 2020 · original
Tie-dye has a special place in my heart. I grew up in Trinidad and in the Caribbean tie-dye was all around me. I even used to tie-dye my own t-shirts. I can’t say they were as beautiful as pieces designers are creating for SS20. They have brought it right up to date making it stylish and not 90’s grunge. Whether it’s a fabulous dress shirt, active wear or accessories give it a go. The post Tie-Dye appeared first on A Fancy Dress Party . - Fabulous Faux Fur
Sep 12, 2019 · original
One coat that everyone needs is a faux fur. They can be a great fun item in your wardrobe. A hot look with the designers, the high street has followed suit and there are many to choose from. You can now find them in bright colours, stripes, animal print, spots… virtually everything. They can be very versatile and take you everywhere. Short or long they will make you feel like you’re in a soft glamorous fluffy cloud. This is a fab colour and style by Tom Ford. A real winner. I love layering my jewellery but it’s important to follow a few tips so your jewellery can make the best impact. The main point is to space the jewellery so that it doesn’t look cluttered or start to get all knotted up together. You want each piece to be seen without overshadowing the other. I have mixed here a bold shorter necklace with a big freshwater pearl and then a long chain. This means the eye sees the shorter necklace and then the long necklace draws the eye down and elongates your look. You can mix metals, classic pearls with vintage, whatever style suits you and your personality. The post Layer It, Style It appeared first on A Fancy Dress Party . - The Yin and the Yang

Deliciously tactile chain necklace – it packs a punch but the bonus is that it is so light you hardly know you are wearing it. On trend with the move to Industrial Jewellery“ its big and bold but not lacking in style or glamour. Don’t be wary of teaming it with statement earrings. I love my Tutti Frutti drops that tone with everything and like Yin and Yang come together like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. The post The Yin and the Yang appeared first on A Fancy Dress Party .
