Sep 9, 2026 · original
The TCS Sydney Marathon 2026 once again delivered an unforgettable experience for runners from around the world, and this year Team ABC was proudly represented by supporters who travelled thousands of miles, overcame injuries, battled jet lag, and carried deeply personal motivations with them every step of the way. From the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge to the world-famous Opera House, Sydney provided a spectacular backdrop for an event that has quickly become one of the most sought-after races on the global marathon calendar. A Family Adventure in Sydney For Simon, Sydney was a chance to combine marathon running with precious family time. “It was an amazing event, my second in Sydney. Written from the perspective of intrepid explorer, Pam Birkby, who trekked the Yorkshire Three Peaks for breast cancer research. “Just keep walking.” My daily mantra. These were the words given to me in May 2021 by one of my specialists when I was diagnosed with Secondary Breast Cancer . They resonated deeply with me. This new chapter of life wasn’t about racing to the finish line; it was about putting one foot in front of the other, always moving forward, always searching for hope. There was no need to rush, just to keep showing up and dealing with whatever came next. I also took those words quite literally. Get up and walk, keep fit, keep my body strong. Hiking became a way to stay active, keep my body strong and clear my mind. So, when I started looking for a new fundraising challenge, taking on a big walk felt like the obvious choice. On 16 May 2026, just five years after my diagnosi - Sun, Smiles, and Generosity at the Well Wellow 10K

The historic village of West Wellow came alive as approximately 100 eager participants laced up for the annual Well Wellow 10K on Sunday 28th June. Held on a beautiful, slightly cooler than the recent heatwave afternoon, the community-driven fun run successfully raised vital funds for the national research charity, Against Breast Cancer. The day kicked off with an inspiring opening speech by event co-organiser Karen Arney. She spoke passionately about the critical mission of Against Breast Cancer, a cause deeply connected to the heart of the local community. Her words set a poignant yet determined tone for the event, reminding everyone that every step taken through the village’s scenic trails would directly fund life-saving medical research. As soon as the main event started the next generation of runners took centre stage. The highly anticipated children’s race followed the 10K and saw - Dr Anthony (Tony) Leathem

The doctor at the tube station, pioneering research scientist & co-founder passes away Dr Anthony Leathem was a man whose compassion, determination and scientific discoveries influenced a generation of research scientists and changed the lives of countless women across the United Kingdom and beyond. A pathologist at the Middlesex Hospital, Tony – as he was known to all who knew him – became increasingly distressed by the number of post-mortems he carried out on young women dying from breast cancer. Rather than accept the status quo he resolved to act. With the backing of the college Dean – but with no funding available, Tony began his research into breast cancer. Together with his wife, Pat they began raising funds in support of his research by selling sweet peas and ginger cake from their home in rural Oxfordshire. However, it was the sight of Tony in his white lab coat outside Oxford C - Breast Walk Ever Hampshire 2026 – Our biggest yet!

Here are a couple of inspiring stories from some of our incredible supporters: Running for a Cause Close to Home For Maddy Whitting (above, centre), taking part in the Hackney Half Marathon was about much more than completing 13.1 miles. “I recently took part in the Hackney Half Marathon in support of Against Breast Cancer.
