A Taste of Tunisia One of the first things I fell in love with was the food. Tunisian cuisine is flavorful and diverse, though sometimes a bit too spicy for my taste! I even tried making my own lablabi, a traditional chickpea soup, though I was told it looked like the most European version ever—probably because I went easy on the harissa (a spicy chili paste). Exploring the Country I had the chance to explore various cities, each with its own unique charm. From the beautifu

  3. How AIESEC membership changed my life
    Nov 16, 2023 · original
I became an AIESEC member thinking it would fill up some free time but the AIESEC membership experience ended up being so much more. When I joined AIESEC over a year ago, I didn’t know that the organization would impact my life the way it has. At first, it was just a nice way to fill up some free time, but it ended up being so much more. From the get-go, I was guided through my experience and given the tools needed to fulfill my functional tasks. The instructions that I received ranged from practical skills like how to sell our projects, to more personal like tuning into people’s needs. With the biweekly one-to-ones, the goals I set for myself with my Vice President are reviewed and discussed according to what I have, or haven’t, achieved. Because of this, I’m continuously challenged to step out of my comfort zone and grow as a person. I can already see the impact AIESEC has had on my li
  4. My First Couple of Months in AIESEC
    Nov 7, 2023 · original
When I first walked into my AIESEC interview, I had no idea what to expect. My first interview was through the phone while I was on a packed train in Italy, so I didn’t hear half of the questions or information that was being said. So, I am sure you can imagine my stress when I came to the office and saw a lot of people who, although seemed really kind and nice, were all busy and looked super smart and intimidating. Despite my nervousness and fumbling all marketing-related questions, somehow I still did well, otherwise I wouldn’t be here writing this blog. My very first AIESEC touch-point was NIS (National Introduction Seminar). We gathered at Tilburg Central station at 9 AM, so not only was I extremely tired, I also felt scared because I only knew one person from our LC (Local Committee). Luckily, from the moment I had arrived, the same girl that had interviewed me recognized me, hugged

    Oct 26, 2023 · original
As I prepared for my volunteering journey to Ghana , I found myself grappling with questions such as “How will I react to this new environment?” and “Will I have a good time there?”. Having never traveled beyond Europe, the weeks leading up to my departure were filled with uncertainty. I had no idea what to expect in a country with a culture vastly different from what I knew growing up. Nonetheless, I told myself “Oh well, there’s no turning back now”. A Warm Welcome On the 30th of August, I boarded the plane and landed in an unknown country with an unfamiliar culture. Luckily, I quickly discovered that Ghanaians are among the most welcoming and kind people on Earth, and it almost instantly felt like I had found a new home. Upon arrival, I was introduced to a term that would follow me throughout my volunteering journey in Ghana. The locals would call me “Obruni,” which translates to “for

  7. Volunteer in Vietnam: A Life-Changing Journey of Hope
    Oct 4, 2023 · original
During my volunteer trip in Vietnam, the children showed me how pure and joyful life can be and make me wonder if having less could be better for someone’s mental wellbeing. Finding My Way in the Concrete Jungle After an intense and stressful year with my Master’s, I was so looking forward to my volunteer trip in Vietnam. It had been a lifelong dream of mine to work with children, contribute to a community, and see a different part of the world. It was my first trip to Asia, so besides a few friends’ stories, I was not sure what to expect. I decided to arrive a few days before the start of my project, so I could first settle in and explore the city. I was glad that I did so because wow… Ho Chi Minh City is enormous. What especially struck me was the traffic. I did not dare to cross a road the first few days, at least not on my own. However, I eventually figured out there is a certain str
  8. Embracing Indonesia: A Journey of Friendship and Discovery

They not only left me with great impressions but also ignited my curiosity about their country. Since that day, the desire to visit Indonesia has been burning within me. I yearned to understand the people I’d met and deepen the cross-cultural friendships we’d forged. A Journey of Self-Discovery Two year ago, I made a life-changing decision. I left Vietnam to study abroad in the Netherlands, which opened doors to exploring various European countries. However, amidst my European adventures, I often found myself questioning my knowledge of my homeland and my continent, Southeast Asia. An Unexpected Opportunity Fate works in mysterious ways. It was by chance that I stumbled upon AIESEC and a unique project in Bandung, perfectly aligned with my summer break. Without hesitation, I eagerly signe
