  1. We Are #JesuitEducated: Cal Kreuter
    Aug 14, 2026 · original
“Well that’s ironic.” That’s what my best friend said to me when I told him I would be interning with the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) this summer. My name is Cal Kreuter, and I’m a rising senior at Occidental College studying History and Spanish. I’m a member of the Barack Obama Scholars program, a leadership and service initiative dedicated to improving the public good. While Occidental is not a Jesuit institution, I spent my elementary and middle school years at a small Catholic school, and attended St. Louis University High (SLUH), a Jesuit high school, which shaped many of my commitments to service, justice, and education. As someone passionate about educational equity, I came to DC hoping to better understand how policy shapes educational access, opportunity, and quality. Since most of my previous professional experience had been in K-12 education through
  2. New Leadership for Conversations on Jesuit Higher Education
    Aug 7, 2026 · original
The National Seminar on Jesuit Higher Education welcomes Dr. Nancy Dallavalle as the new executive editor of the publication, Conversations on Jesuit Higher Education . Dr. Dallavalle serves as director of the Center for Catholic Studies at Fairfield University, where she is also an associate professor of religious studies. Dr. Dallavalle said, “I am happy to serve as the new executive editor for Conversations on Jesuit Higher Education . Rooted in the work and outreach of the National Seminar on Jesuit Higher Education, the print and online contents of Conversations are a rich resource for campus discussions about mission. Given the current pace of change in higher education, and the great need for a grounded, person-centered vision for this work, Conversations will continue to enliven and support that mission across the AJCU network.” Supporting Dr. Dallavalle in her work is Ron Bernas
  3. Reflections on Rome: Presidents Share Highlights from AJCU Pilgrimage
    Jul 31, 2026 · original
On the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola (July 31), we are delighted to share photos and reflections from the presidents of AJCU and Jesuit colleges and universities who attended the AJCU Presidents’ Pilgrimage to Rome from June 23-26: “To say that the AJCU Presidents’ Pilgrimage to Rome, followed by a retreat in Assisi, was an experience of a lifetime is to undersell its profound impact. Our meetings with the Vatican and the Curia grounded our work in both the global Church and in the nearly 500 year-old tradition of Jesuit higher education. We are a part of something so much larger than our individual institutions. Meeting with Pope Leo and spending time with Jesuit Superior General Fr. Sosa, in particular, reinforced the responsibility we have to lead with great fidelity to our Jesuit, Catholic mission and inspired an even deeper understanding of what a gift Jesuit higher education is t
  4. AJCU Presidents Meet with Pope Leo XIV
    Jun 26, 2026 · original
On Thursday, June 25, presidents from nineteen Jesuit colleges and universities in North America met with Pope Leo XIV during a working trip to Rome. The trip was coordinated by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) in partnership with the AJCU Board of Directors. In his address to the presidents, Pope Leo encouraged them to reflect on the Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAPs) of the Society of Jesus as “paths that might help to address these challenges at the level of higher education.” He said, “Your institutions are called not only to teach your students about the injustices faced by those on the margins of society, but also to be powerful channels in promoting systemic change through proposing new models rooted in solidarity and the common good.” In discussing the third preference, “accompanying youth toward a hope-filled future,” Pope Leo said, “The studies tha
