  1. Mark Gurman’s good news for the future of Apple Immersive Video
    Aug 21, 2026 · original
Today Mark Gurman wrote for Bloomberg : Apple Cuts Jobs in Siri, Vision Pro Immersive Video and Gaming Teams Why is this good news? Mark specifically says that this change is about the internal Apple team making immersive video: As part of the changes, [Apple is] reducing the size of a unit responsible for producing the device’s immersive video content Immersive video has been a key selling point for the Vision Pro since its launch. But producing each 3D video requires multiple crews of Apple employees and contractors, and an episode in an immersive video series can cost several million dollars to film. Those expenses have strained the business given the limited number of active Vision Pro users. The good news for third parties interested in making immersive video… The company plans to produce a smaller number of videos in-house while encouraging third-party companies to develop content
  2. Apple has decided to compete for creativity app users
    Jul 16, 2026 · original
After not seeming to have a clear go-to-market strategy for their creativity apps over the last 15 years… Apple are looking for a manager to lead a team in Poland that focuses on the engagement, acquisition, and retention of Apple Creator Studio subscribers. Responsibilities include: Developing ‘multi-year forward thinking growth plans and marketing campaigns in priority regions and customer segments’ Designing ‘extended offers to drive both new customer acquisition and win back former customers’ Identifying ‘creative and novel ways of structuring incentives and business models’ These plans will be put into practice by Apple teams in multiple ‘geos’ (such as EMEIA, Americas, and APAC). 4. If not NAB… VidCon?
    May 1, 2026 · original
NAB Show took place in Las Vegas in April. It is one of the two world-scale annual TV post production trade shows. According to reports from the event, Final Cut Pro and Apple Creator Studio were hard to find. Where might we see them next? In the early 2000s Apple had a big presence at NAB, spending time and money on a large stand (‘booth’ in American English). They sent many staff and put on big events. These activities aimed to sell the use of Mac in post production. Saying that their hardware was best for running all NLEs. Especially Final Cut Pro 1, 2, 3, 4, 4.5 etc. This was until 2007. Apple dropped out of NAB in 2008. No stand, no public events. Their attendance became more subtle. In the years following, Apple staff would still go for research, networking and sales reasons. But the attendance wouldn’t be public. One exception was 2011, when they took over a third-party event happ

We were lucky to get one of the first Macintoshes to arrive in the UK. In May 1984. I suspect it was in the very first batch – along with Stephen Fry’s. In those days it arrived with free applications (as they were called in those days). One of which was MacPaint. I still have the very first artwork I made on a Mac: a disc label for a backup copy of MacPaint. It was printed on a Wide ImageWriter. Here it is on the disc alongside the mouse I used to create it: The post 42 years ago appeared first on Alex4D .
  6. Final Cut Pro 11.2 and Motion 5.11 for iPhone 17 Pro?
    Sep 8, 2025 · original
Tomorrow sees Apple’s Autumn 2025 announcements. There’s a chance that Final Cut Pro and Apple Motion will benefit from new features in the iPhone 17 series of phones. Every time Apple add new video features to the iPhone, Final Cut Pro – and sometimes Apple Motion – gets updated to support the new feature. Mark Gurman says that the iPhone 17 series will have simultaneous recording on both front and rear cameras . This feature has been available for years using third-party apps, but now Apple is blessing this idea for their apps. Another rumour says that the standard Camera app will be simplified. If both these things come to pass, it is likely that simultaneous recording will come to Apple’s Final Cut Camera app. Logically, users will get a two angle multicam clip (if the iPhone is the only device recording) in the Photos app. Multicam clips hold more than one view of what is happening.
  7. Alex4D Interface 2038
    Aug 14, 2025 · original
A free Final Cut Pro for Mac title that emulates text seen in Alien (1979) and in Alien: Earth (2025). Uploaded 14 August 2025 This title can be used to emulate the chat-based interface as shown in ‘Alien’ (1979) and in titles during ‘Alien: Earth’ (2025). It is an update of a Final Cut title I made to celebrate the arrival of ‘Prometheus’ – the first Alien prequel film – in 2012. Settings You will see many settings in the Inspector, but many of them aim at recreating the ‘Alien’ text. If you want to do that, you won’t need to change Build In, All Caps, Font, Horizontal Scale, Colour, Tracking, Line Spacing or Baseline . The default settings will result in text that matches that seen in the first film: Install the free(?) font The font used in that film was from a family known as ‘City.’ It was designed almost 100 years ago . The designs of letterforms aren’t protected by copyright, but
  8. Renaming published Drop Zones in Apple Motion-made tools for Final Cut Pro
    Apr 3, 2025 · original
Sometimes when designing titles, effects, transitions or generators for Final Cut Pro in Motion, it is helpful to include a Drop Zone. These are used are parameters that the editor can set in Final Cut so that they can choose a piece of media in the current library to be featured in the plugin. A catch is that by default, Motion names these drop zones as ‘Drop Zone’ and there is no way in Motion to rename them. This means that as an editing tool designer, you can’t give them names such as ‘Contestant No. 1’ or ‘Birthday Image’ – names that would make your templates that much easier to use in Final Cut Pro. Motion names each drop zone after the drop zone graphic built into Final Cut. The name is assigned to its layer too. When a drop zone is created (either using a Motion command or by duplicating an existing drop zone), a unique layer name is created too. That layer name is used when the
  9. Alex4D Transform

A free Final Cut Pro for Mac effect that can move in 3D space, rotate in 3 dimensions and scale a clip with on-screen controls. Uploaded 15 November 2024 Controls There are times when it is useful to position, rotate or scale an image using an effect instead of using the Transform panel of the Video Inspector. An example is when a non-3D clip, title or generator is added to a 3D/Spatial timeline in Final Cut Pro 11 and newer. Final Cut automatically disables the Transform tab. If you want to transform non-3D media in a 3D/Spatial timeline, apply the Alex4D Transform effect. Once you have applied the effect to your clip, click the clip in the viewer to see position, rotation and scale controls. To hide the Position/Rotation on-screen control, uncheck the Position/Rotation OSC checkbox. To scale in proportion , hold down the Shift key when dragging one of the blue dot scale controls: Downl
  10. Final Cut Pro for iPad: How to create secondary storylines
    Jul 8, 2023 · original
In version 1.0.x of Final Cut Pro for iPad, there isn’t an on-screen control, gesture or keyboard command to create a secondary storyline. Final Cut for Mac users who miss this very useful method for grouping clips together can create secondary storylines using this tip: Connect a clip to the main storyline (by dragging one from the main storyline or by using the ‘Connect at Playhead’ option of the Edit Mode control from the Project Media pane). Drag any transition from the Transitions browser to the connected clip. The clip is turned into a single clip connected storyline with a transition. If you have a keyboard connected, you can quickly add the Cross Dissolve transition to the connected clip using the Command-T keyboard shortcut. If the whole clip is selected, it will the add the transition to both ends. If you go into Edge selection mode and tap an edge and then press Command-T, the
