  1. Top 5 Mechanical Keyboard Switches of 2026
    Sep 16, 2026 · original
Top 5 Mechanical Keyboard Switches of 2026 Twitch September 16, 2026 9:45 pm 2026 is passing us by at an alarming rate. And there have been a lot of switches releases so far! We have reached the point where a “ pretty good ” linear switch is no longer enough. Every week there is a new housing blend, a new proprietary stem shape, and a new switch named after a random food (thank goodness we haven’t gone the route of monitor naming schemes yet) With that being said, you may be wondering what is even worth looking at now that we are more than half way through the year. Well, look no further because I’ve been keeping track of what I like! Expectations Like my last article, I want to set expectations. This list isn’t ranked. These are just the switches I’ve been reaching for the most lately and stuff I’m liking. And as always, this is just my personal preference. A switch can feel or sound co
  2. Ducky Cushion 98 Review

Ducky Cushion 98 keyboard by: Ducky Photos taken in House by alex Ducky Cushion 98 Review: Ducky Is Getting It September 5, 2026 6:54 pm Ducky is one of the few older brands in the peripheral world that I still look at and genuinely enjoy testing their boards. In fact, their One X Mini is still in my rotation for gaming boards. They are a bit more humble with their approach to products in the keyboard space, and seem to always be up to taking criticism and improving. I love this a lot. Fast forward to today, they sent over the Cushion 98 for me to take a look at on stream. However, I’ve been using it for close to a month before writing this review. The Cushion 98 is Ducky’s take on a compact 98% keyboard with actually pretty good silent switches. It gives you the numpad and navigation keys of a full-size while keeping roughly the footprint of a TKL. At $159 to start, it’s also sitting in
  3. QK100 Mark II Review

QK100 Mark II Review keyboard by: Qwertykeys Photos taken in House by alex QK100 Mark II Review July 21, 2026 6:51 am There was a point recently where I started wondering what QK’s next move would look like. After years of releasing some of the most popular enthusiast keyboards, there were rumors that they might slow down or shift focus away from the projects that made them so successful. Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Instead, QK is now reworking how their lineup works. Their current plan is for QK to focus only on prebuilt keyboards, while Neo and Owlab will continue making barebone kits. They have already released a few prebuilts boards, but their newest release is their latest example of this new direction. The QK100 Mark II is a fully assembled keyboard aimed at people who want something that works immediately out of the box. Normally, that approach makes me a little
  4. Canadian Mechanical Keyboard Meetup // July 2026
    Jul 13, 2026 · original
Canadian Mechanical Keyboard Meetup // July, 2026 The biggest keyboard meetup of the year in Canada is back! This time we returned to the Toronto Reference Library’s Bram & Bluma Appel Salon, and I couldn’t have been happier. It’s been a while since we’ve had a meetup here, and I forgot just how much I love this venue. The turnout absolutely blew me away. People flew in from all over just to spend the day together, and it made the whole event feel incredibly special. Every year I wonder how these meetups can get any better, and somehow they always do. This was easily one of my favourite Toronto meetups to date. On a more personal note, this one meant a lot to me. I had friends make the trip out, I got to spend time catching up with so many familiar faces, and met plenty of new ones along the way. These moments are honestly what make these events so memorable and why I recommend meet ups
  5. Solder vs. Hotswap PCBs
    May 29, 2026 · original
Solder vs. Hotswap: The Realities of Choosing a PCB May 29, 2026 6:30 pm Twitch In the current custom keyboard scene, getting into the hobby is easier than ever. With things like pre-lubed switches, great out-of-the-box budget boards that feel premium, and easy build experiences have completely flattened the learning curve. Although, even with all these entry-level luxuries, every builder eventually hits the exact same fork in the road: Hotswap or Solder, which is better? It’s a question I get asked all the time on my stream, maybe not as much as what’s my favourite switch, but enough times that I wanted to write about it after all these years. On paper, it looks like a simple choice between convenience and manual labor. Hotswap lets you pop switches in and have a working board in something like 15 minutes. Solder requires an iron, some steady hands, ventilation, and an hour-ish of your
  6. The Mode Encore, 2026 Version Review
    May 19, 2026 · original
2026 Mode Encore keyboard by: Mode Photos taken in House by alex The Mode Encore (2026) Review May 19, 2026 7:18 pm Mode just dropped a massive redesign of their website and with it and along with the new site comes a brand-new iteration of a board that has had a chokehold on the community for a minute now, the Mode Encore . I’ve already liked the Encore since it first came out. If you want some previous thoughts on it, check out my older review . It’s a gorgeous board that really took advantage of Mode’s lattice system and beautifully designed by Matthew Encina. No one can convince me otherwise. So, when Mode told me they were completely changing the internals, I was incredibly curious. At the same time, I was also a bit bummed that the lattice system is being retired! Now, let’s look at the specs, and see if this thing is worth your hard-earned cash. Full Disclosure and Affiliations Th

RAW Relic 80 by Angry Miao keyboard by: Angry Miao Photos taken in House by alex AM Relic 80 Review — RAW May 7, 2026 4:27 pm This is the Relic 80 from Angry Miao, the RAW edition to be exact. They did send this in, so full disclosure, the original stream was sponsored, but you guys know we are still going to dive deep in this article and give it an honest look. I’ll be the first to admit, Angry Miao’s aesthetic isn’t for everyone. A lot of their boards lean heavily into that hyper-futuristic, cyber vibe. But the Relic 80? I think this is one of their more tame, palatable designs. Well, maybe not the RAW edition one, but it sort of is? The RAW edition version has a very distinct finish which apparently is acid anodized. Today I’ll break it down, tear it open, and see what this $699 board is really all about. Twitch Aesthetics: Off-White Vibes and Cool Machining Right out of the box, the
  8. Toronto Mechanical Keyboard Mini-Meetup // April, 2026
    Apr 27, 2026 · original
Toronto Mechanical Keyboard Mini-Meetup // April, 2026 Another mini-meetup in Toronto! I love these things, it’s really nice seeing everyone and just hanging out. It really does feel like the social aspect of this hobby is the most important, at least to me that is. I got to see some new stuff, like the Glare 60 (which is a board I really want now) and I got to see another Manta! It was great. I made sure to snag a bunch of pictures and even tried the 40mm Summicron, it’s a fun vintage lens. Also, can we all appreciate the amount of Windbreaker sets? Photos taken with Leica M11-P w/ 40mm Summicron. The post Toronto Mechanical Keyboard Mini-Meetup // April, 2026 appeared first on alexotos .
  9. The Schema M60

COMING SOON. Group Buy Ended - Finalizing Orders With Manufacturer Purchase your Schema here Join the GB A 60% keyboard designed by Alexotos and Bowl Keyboards. The Schema Input series is built around a simpler design language inspired by Bowl and my previous release, the Manta. We wanted to take everything that made that project special and reinterpret it through a more minimal, brutalist lens. This time around, we had a few goals in mind: a 60% layout with support for universal PCBs, compatibility with most hall-effect PCBs, and a proper poron gasket mount. It’s a classic typing experience, and honestly, something I’ve missed having in my rotation. So we brought all of that together. We kept the signature fin design from the Manta, refined and simplified it, then built the board around the features we actually wanted to use ourselves. The result was the first prototype of the Schema In
  10. The Best Custom Keyboards You Can Get Right Now, 2026 Edition
    Mar 12, 2026 · original
The Best Custom Keyboards You Can Get Right Now, 2026 Edition March 12, 2026 5:35 pm The custom keyboard space never really slows down. Every week it feels like we get introduced to new boards and design ideas, and it makes me get really pumped up for this space. What counted as a top-tier custom just a few years ago might now be considered mid-range, while newer manufacturers continue to push machining quality, standards, and overall typing experience further than ever before. For this article, I’ve put together a list of some of the best custom keyboards you can get right now in 2026. These are boards that stand out for different reasons: some offer exceptional build quality, some are pure value, and others are just flat out classy. This isn’t meant to be a definitive ranking of every great keyboard out there. Instead, think of it as a curated snapshot of boards that genuinely stand ou
