  1. End of the School Year Gift
    Jun 3, 2021 · original
I love sending my son and his little classmates goodies to school for special occasions, like birthdays and holidays. I knew I wanted to do something cute to mark the start of summer, and I love how this end of the school year gift came out. You d be surprised what you can find at Dollar Tree . I headed over to wander the aisles and saw beach balls which gave me an idea. At only a dollar each, I knew I could put a cute tag on them and they d be the perfect end of the school year gift. I decided to grab them and some of their loot bags to make the perfect little something for his classmates. If you re a teacher, these are a great, cost effective end of the school year gift for your students too. Supplies: beach balls clear loot/goodie bags curling ribbon paper cutter scissors hole punch gift tag glass of wine (optional) Let s get crafty! This honestly could not be easier, and its so darn
  2. Slow Cooker Pot Roast
    May 31, 2021 · original
This slow cooker pot roast is sure to be the best you ve ever had -super tender beef that s sure to fall apart, this slow cooker pot roast soaks in all the incredible flavors as it cooks. The roast cooks alongside vegetables and potatoes giving you the most hearty and delicious dinner perfect for any night of the week. I love comfort food. Pot roast isn t something we typically have in the summer. It s one of those meals I consider a fall or winter dish, but I was in the mood even despite the 80 degree weather. What is pot roast? Pot roast is a tough cut of beef roast, such as bottom round or chuck roast, that is slowly cooked in broth such as beef stock, wine, or water. Many times vegetables and/or potatoes are cooked along side the roast. Why use a slow cooker? Pot roast takes a long time to cook. Of course you can cook it in a dutch oven inside your oven, but that requires you to be ho
  3. Busy Boxes for Toddlers
    May 18, 2021 · original
Whether traveling or just trying to enjoy a nice dinner out, busy boxes for your toddlers are the best way to keep your little one occupied without having to whip out a tablet. What is a busy box? Basically it s exactly what it sounds like. A box (or bag) to keep your little one busy. The box is filled with little toys or activities to hold your little one s attention. Since we used our busy boxes for a road trip last time, I put a snack in each one as well. When would I need to use a busy box with my child? ANYTIME! Anytime you need to keep you re little one busy- when you re working from home, out to dinner, at someone s home who may not have children or toys, road trips, while flying, or maybe you re just trying to get things done around the house and you need something to hold your child s attention. How much will this cost me? I managed to keep each busy box at five dollars or less.
  4. Easy Slow Cooker Corned Beef
    Mar 11, 2021 · original
St. Patrick s Day means one thing, and that s corned beef, but what happens when St. Patrick s Day ends up on a work night and you don t have time to let it cook for hours on the stove? You put it it in the slow cooker and come home to a delicious corned beef dinner. Corned Beef is one of my favorite meals, ever. The only problem is, it has to sit on the stove top for hours, and as a busy mom, I just don t have time for that. After multiple attempts, I ve perfected my slow cooker corned beef. The secret ingredient is a can of beer in place of water, but here s the deal, you have to save the last sip for yourself. Just trust me on this, okay. What should I serve with it? I always make sure to have a fresh loaf of rye bread and some kerrygold butter . Some pickles and spicy brown mustard is a must. My favorite accompaniment, an ice cold Irish beer such as Smithwicks or Guinness. Stock up.
  5. Tips to Help Your Baby Sleep Through the Night
    Mar 5, 2021 · original
When my first son was born, all I heard was sleep when the baby sleeps but that meant the laundry didn t get done, dinner didn t get made, and no showers were to be had. I knew that I wouldn t feel rested until he was able to sleep through the night. Now that I have successfully sleep trained both of my boys, I ve compiled my top five tips to help your baby sleep through the night. 1. Establish a sleep routine early. From very early on, around three weeks old, I started to set up a night routine. For us this meant the feeding before went to bed, was done in our room, in the dark, with no television on. I wanted to start the association of dark room=bed time as soon as possible. Your routine will evolve as they get older but for us it was as simple as putting on pajamas and relaxing in a bouncer before bed. Some people include bath time, reading a book, singing, or rocking in rocking chai
  6. Playroom Storage Ideas
    Mar 4, 2021 · original
Feeling overwhelmed by your children s toys? Don t worry, you re not alone. I ve put together some of my favorite playroom storage ideas to help you get the mess organized and under control. Let s get started. Organizing a playroom takes time, especially if your kids have a ton of toys. My best advice, do not attempt this while the kids are awake. One night when they are in bed, grab yourself a glass of wine or an ice cold beer and go to town. Attempting to organize a toy room with your children is a near impossible task. Let s talk Storage. It s important that children can see what they have, otherwise it s out of site, out of mind , and honestly at that point you may as well just donate them. I ve learned the best way to store toys is in labeled bins and clear buckets. Not only does it keep things looking neat, it also makes for easier clean up. Ditch the boxes and containers. So many
  7. Easter Books for Your Children
    Mar 2, 2021 · original
I love any reason to create family traditions. One of my favorite traditions is buying books for each holiday. With Easter around the corner, I ve complied a list of Easter books for your children. Don t buy them all at once. Our collection for each holiday is slowly growing. Every year, at the beginning of that holiday s season, I surprise each of the boys with a new book. I like to make a fun themed breakfast and leave each of their books out for when they wake up. It a fun kick-off to each holiday! Keep it new & exciting Pack up the books and store them with your holiday decorations. This keeps them new and fun each year. Don t leave them on your child s book shelf all year long. Not only does that create extra clutter, it takes away from the excitement. Bring them out when the holiday decor comes out, this way they will have something to look forward to each year. Make them easily ac
  8. Our Modern Farmhouse Bathroom
    Feb 23, 2021 · original
Our 1950s cape cod style home was purchased from its original owners. While in great condition, you can imagine there was work to be done. Since we had just given the bank all of our money, we had to focus on the projects that really needed to get done. For us that meant our modern farmhouse bathroom renovation was on hold. We bought a house, but how do we make it a home? When we bought our house in 2015, we were very lucky that nothing major needed to be done before we could move in. Nothing more then some fresh paint and we were in. We were married less than a year, and buying a home after a large Long Island wedding, which we paid for on our own, was a major accomplishment. It also meant that my dream Pinterest home would have to wait until we could afford to update each and every room. Learning to live with what you have. It s hard living in a home when something doesn t feel like yo
  9. Slow Cooker Lentil Soup
    Feb 21, 2021 · original
Can you ever go wrong with a hearty delicious soup in the dead of winter? This Slow Cooker Lentil Soup is so simple yet so satisfying! Expecting a cold snowy day? Start your slow cooker in the morning, head out in the snow for some fun with the kids, then come in and warm up with some scrumptious lentil soup. There are very few things I like about winter, but to winter means soup, and that s something I love! There is nothing more satisfying that a hot bowl of soup on a dark and cold winter night. We have a local Greek spot that makes the most delicious lentil soup, so this winter I tried my hand at recreating it, and I nailed it on the first try! One thing you ll come to see here is I do NOT like to spend all day in the kitchen, so I love creating recipes with my slow cooker . Literally chop, dump & go. It could not be any easier. This slow cooker lentil soup checks all of those boxes.
