- WISER’s launch: 5 priorities from our first Partners Meeting
Sep 28, 2026 · original
🏔️ 5 fast takes on WISER’s launch! Earlier this month, we gathered at FAU’s headquarters for our kick-off with a very hands-on, practical spirit. We were pleased to welcome representatives of the Alpine Space Programme and EUSALP AG3 and AG6 , who will collaborate with us in key project activities. Here is what’s ahead: 🗺️ Bridging value chains : we will map regional resources, processing capacities, and institutional dynamics to understand where value chains thrive, where gaps exist, and what barriers halt collaboration. 🌱 Key fibers spotligh t: i.e., unlock the overlooked potential of wool, flax, silk, and hemp — from bio-based materials to high-performance textiles. 🔬 Product development : we’ll be testing silk-wool functional wear, circular surfaces from coarse fibers, and new uses from by-products across B2B and B2C markets. ⚡ Analyze and take action : moving beyond research to - REGIOSTARS Awards 2026: Cultural transhumance

🐑 Innovation is not always about making giant leaps. Sometimes, it begins with a walk.. As a finalist in the Green Europe category of the REGIOSTARS Awards , AlpTextyles is being recognized for its commitment to preserving and reimagining Alpine textile heritage for a more sustainable future. Through the Cultural transhumance event, AlpTextyles transformed Alpine textile cultural heritage into a living, intergenerational shared experience . Its two editions gathered shepherds, local weavers, researchers, young people, and community members to walk alongside a flock through Valle Camonica, discovering first-hand the people, animals, and skills behind transhumance — the UNESCO-recognized practice that has shaped wool production and circular textile value chains in the Alps for centuries. Conceived by Regione Lombardia as a grassroots initiative , the event connected communities with the p - Together for Alpine peatlands: project partners gather in Freising for the RE-PEAT-it! Kick-off

Despite covering only a small portion of the Alpine region, peatlands play an oversized role in local ecosystems. They retain carbon, regulate water flows, and provide habitats for specialized species. However, after decades of drainage and land-use pressure, 80% of European peatlands are degraded. Because Alpine sites are often small and geographically scattered, setting the groundwork for long-term recovery requires a clear, coordinated effort across borders. To get this initial phase underway, project partners met in Freising, Germany, on September 8–9, 2026. Hosted by the Peatland Science Centre at Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf, the Kick-Off Meeting for RE-PEAT-it! brought together 12 organizations from seven Alpine countries, including regional agencies, research institutions, NGOs, and protected area networks. Led by CIPRA International Lab, the three-year project is supported - REGIOSTARS Awards 2026: AlpTextyles MOOC

🎓 Cultural heritage is not preserved by storing it away. It survives when it is shared, taught, and reinterpreted by new generations. As a finalist in the Green Europe category of the REGIOSTARS Awards , AlpTextyles is being recognized for its commitment to preserving and reimagining Alpine textile heritage for a more sustainable future. One of the project’s most significant legacies is its free MOOC – Massive Online Open Course “TheLiving Textile Heritage of the Alps and its Sustainable Circular Future” , available through the eLearning Project platform (co-funded by the European Union). 📚 Access the course for free. Developed under the leadership of project partner Istituto Marangoni, this MOOC brings together the knowledge, experiences, and lessons gathered throughout AlpTextyles into six learning modules . 🚀 WISER is about to start! The journey begins in Erlangen (DE) on September 17th–18th , with the WISER Kick-off and first Project Partners Meeting hosted by FAU . Bringing together 11 partners from six Alpine countries , WISER will connect producers, artisans, designers, researchers, training organizations, and SMEs to address gaps in existing fiber value chains and foster collaboration across sectors and borders. Over the next three years, the project will map fiber ecosystems, test circular approaches in pilot regions, engage young people and training organizations, and develop practical tools to support the uptake and replication of circular natural fiber practices throughout the Alpine region. This first meeting is an opportunity to get WISER moving — not only by discussing WPs and deliverables, but by laying the concrete foundations for the work ahead towards a more circular Alpine - 5th DiMark Project Partner Meeting

Communication Seminar: building communication capacity for projects
Sep 11, 2026 · original
On 9 and 10 September 2026, communication representatives from Interreg Alpine Space projects came together for the Get Started! Communication Seminar. The two-day online training brought the newly approved Call 3 projects and their communication officers up to speed on the practical and regulatory foundations they need to succeed, and allowed officers from ongoing projects to also benefit from the resources. Designed around the principle that good communication is not optional, the seminar walked participants through three essential areas. On Day 1, we covered the regulatory requirements that shape project communication – from visibility and branding obligations through to the project website – before moving into strategy. Participants worked through stakeholder mapping exercises and target-group matrices tailored to their own projects, learning how to identify who they need to reach an - REGIOSTARS Awards 2026: AlpTextyles Textile Summer Schools

🪡 What if textile heritage became a classroom for the future? As a finalist in the Green Europe category of the REGIOSTARS Awards , AlpTextyles has shown how heritage can inspire new generations of designers, makers, and innovators. Through its Summer School initiatives in Italy and Slovenia , AlpTextyles invited young designers to e xplore Alpine textile heritage through hands-on learning and traditional techniques, reweaving them into new contemporary design practices . You can learn about our Summer Schools in our Pilots’ section. In Lombardy, the AlpTextyles Alpine Icon Textile Summer School 2024 by Regione Lombardia brought students together with local craftswomen to experiment with spinning and weaving, rediscover Alpine iconography, and reinterpret traditional knowledge through creative design. Their handwoven works were later showcased at the AlpTextyles stand at #MilanoUnica 20
