- Rose-Colored Girl
Aug 29, 2022 · original
3:06 AM and I am wide awake, thanks to the huge cup of matcha I had at 4:30 PM–that and the fact that my third Eurotrip is set and I am bound to Athens in exactly two weeks. Who am I even kidding at this hour? There’s one more reason–perhaps the real one–and it’s this: I have emotions (traumas?) that have been creeping up on me the past couple of days. They concern men, unsurprisingly. I know I need to process these with my life coach, but for now, I’ll write. I was out today with some high school friends. I finally got to visit Ana at Filtr, a small coffee shop where she works part-time. I was with Erika and Lyka. We hung out until Ana finished her shift; we had dinner plans. At some point, Paramore’s Rose-Colored Boy played, which I enjoyed at that moment. After Laughter was on repeat at a very specific time in my life. Now it’s stuck in my head, and I am taken back to my last solo tri - Protected: Looking Back on the Year That Was via Instagram Stories

Mar 3, 2019 · original
The first of the two lakes I visited in Europe was in Styria, Austria. Grüner See (which literally translates to Green Lake) is actually a park that turns into a lake in the summer. Surrounded by forests and the Hochschwab Mountains, Grüner See is the result of the glistening snow from the mountains melting and finding their way to the park in spring. When snow melts, it produces the clearest waters. Amusingly, though, Grüner See boasts of emerald-green water. This is due to the grass and vegetation beneath the lake, as well as its surrounding greenery. We went there from Graz in September before finding our way to our weekend destination: a family cabin on top of a hill, built by Moritz’ grandfather himself. It was a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the lake. It was enjoyable because we were surrounded by towering trees and such a lovely view of the mountains. We were told we could - An Afternoon in Jardin du Luxembourg

27 September 2017 | 5:35PM Jardin du Luxembourg I’m currently people watching in Jardin du Luxembourg, facing the afternoon sun and right now, honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way. What a lovely afternoon. The weather’s been great here in Paris that I can manage to wear shorts or skirts and not hate myself for doing so. Although it’s quite cold for my liking, around 15 degrees, the warmth of the sun makes it bearable. I’m facing away from the Palais de Luxembourg, towards the Grand Bassin and the surrounding garden. When you look around, you’ll see that the autumn colors are starting to settle in. A single tree would have different shades of leaves! The foliage itself is just a visual treat. The flowers around the garden are still in full bloom. I don’t know what kind they are, but they are mostly red. You’d hear people walking – the cream gravel makes a sound in every step. Around January last year I told myself that no matter what it takes, I will study abroad again. I’ve already been working for almost three years then. Since I have enough in my savings account to take a leap of faith without going entirely broke, I decided I will make it happen for myself, this time with zero financial help from my parents. And so I flew to London in September last year and made it happen. There’s just something about studying abroad It all started when I was in highschool. I took Nihonggo classes every Wednesday after school and made sure I was getting good grades so I could go to a two-week study tour in Tokyo for free. To my luck, the hardwork paid off and I made it to Tokyo . It was my first flight ever, and my first trip abroad. Don’t ask me if I can still speak or understand Japanese, though. Despite learning it since grade school, it barely stuck with me. I just r - Last look before moving forward

I guess it’s safe to say that 2017 was something else for everyone – it was a crazy mix of good and bad. I mean, just watch Google’s Year in Search and you’d know. To me, 2017 was anxiety attacks brought about by all the violence under this administration, some hitting too close to home. It was days on autopilot and nights too dark and disorienting – especially after what happened in the bus. It was not feeling safe for a time beside any man, even my best friend. It was not being able to look at myself in the mirror, feeling foreign to my own body. It was falling out of good habits. It was days and days of taking antibiotics for various reasons. It was stronger allergy attacks. It was worrying about my loved ones. It was worrying about a lot of things. It was burnout. But, at the same time, 2017 was 4 local destinations, 16 cities and 9 countries. It was hitting personal financial goals - Straight Outta Europe: Barcelona
Nov 14, 2017 · original
Picture yourself waiting for the sunset in Castell de Montjuic – a castle on a hill – overlooking Barcelona as the city glistens under the golden hour light. You don’t even have to look up to see that the sky is clear. The warmth of the sun balances out the cool December breeze, and to top it all off, The Beatles’ songs play softly in the background. 19-year-old Alyssa in Castell de Montjuice, circa 2013 That, my friend, is a moment I had in the city four years ago, and the very reason why I hold Barcelona close to my heart. It was serene and personal, above anything. And so when I went on another Eurotrip the other month, I made sure to come back to the city so I could see what else Barcelona has to offer. This time, Barcelona offered me a hefty brunch, clear skies, great portraits, a fun time with my soulmate and travel buddy, Erika, a chance to master the “walk and look back” pose, a - Straight Outta Europe: Shoreditch, London

It was fitting to spend the day in Shoreditch, a vibrant and artsy neighborhood in bipolar-weathered London, just before my illustration class at Central Saint Martins started. After spending my first few days in museums (I was the happiest kid because of the fact that most museums in London are free!!!), I was so excited to see art in the streets for a change. And so we went to Brick Lane and the nearby weekend markets, spotting murals as we walk around! Shoreditch is known to have the best of London’s street art – which was perfect because I knew I needed some visual inspiration both for class and for work, and I definitely got it that day. Leaving the apartment on an empty stomach, we patiently fell in line for bao buns filled with slow cooked pork belly and it was every bit worth it. We carried on walking around all afternoon, enjoying the vibe, the weekend market finds, and the stre - Taipei Highlight: 1914 Huashan Creative Park

Being a creative myself, a personal favorite in Taipei would be 1914 Huashan Creative Park – a used-to-be winery, turned culture and art center in the middle of the city. With it’s industrial facade – structures covered in greenery, an evidence of enduring the passage of time – it would be hard for you not to feel the urge to explore the place. The park hosts exhibits, and is a preferred venue for cultural events. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, and the place was just full of life despite the gloomy weather. It was easy to spend an entire afternoon roaming around the creative park. We would go in random stores and look around. One of the stores we spent the most time in was Wooderful Life. Caught Mama waving at the kids hehe cutie The place was full of kids and adults alike, all fascinated with the amazing woodwork you’re free to play with.
