- Apprenticeships emerge as the pathway of choice among Hertfordshire parents and educators, marking a major shift in post‑16 attitudes
Sep 29, 2026 · original
Parents, carers, teachers and school staff across Hertfordshire are showing unprecedented support for apprenticeships, with two major countywide surveys published by Hertfordshire Futures and the Hertfordshire Careers Hub revealing a significant shift in attitudes towards technical and vocational pathways. Hertfordshire parents and carers are now more likely to encourage their child to consider an apprenticeship than traditional full‑time higher education . Now in its 8 th year, the 2026 Parent & Carer Survey, delivered by Amazing Apprenticeships, attracted 3,846 responses from 55 schools. The findings reveal a significant and celebratory milestone: 71% of parents/carers would encourage their child to consider an apprenticeship , compared with 66% who would encourage university . This marks the first time since the survey began that apprenticeships have overtaken full‑time higher educati - Technical education is in the 26/27 spotlight
Sep 7, 2026 · original
Technical education is finally getting the attention it deserves, with clear messages coming from government that young people deserve both ambition and excellence, whichever pathway they decide to follow. Academic and technical routes are not in competition – they are equal, high‑quality options that open different doors to future success. In June, Prime Minister Andy Burnham set out his vision for a skills‑led education system that values apprenticeships, T Levels and the emerging V Levels. His argument was simple: if we want a future‑ready workforce, technical pathways must be part of every conversation – in schools, in families and across the national debate. This year’s T Level results show why that matters. 19,665 students received their results, with a 92.6% pass rate and over two‑thirds achieving a merit or above. Since 2022, more than 40,000 young people have achieved a T Level, - Lessons from overseas – Churchill Fellowship applications now open

Amazing Apprenticeships Founder and Director, Anna Morrison, explains more: “One of the voluntary roles I hold is serving on the Churchill Fellowship Advisory Council. I joined in2022 to help shape the Fellowship’s work through the Education strand, and it remains one of the most rewarding and inspiring positions I’ve taken on. The Churchill Fellowship is a truly unique national charity. It supports individual UK citizens to pursue bold, practical ideas for change by learning directly from the world – travelling overseas, meeting experts and bringing back insights that can stren - Leading National Apprenticeship Week into its 20th year: A message from Steve Jenkins, Department of Work and Pensions
Jul 6, 2026 · original
Hi I’m Steve Jenkins and I’m a Senior Manager within the Department for Work and Pensions, overseeing National Apprenticeship Week, the Top 100 Employers and the National Apprenticeship & Skills Awards. I’ve been involved with National Apprenticeship Week since it first started back in 2008, and have had the pleasure of being the national lead since 2020. I’ve seen first-hand how the week has evolved into a high-profile, nationwide celebration of apprenticeships in England – and it’s fantastic to see how schools are getting involved too. 2027 will mark the 20 th anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week. It will take place from the 8 th – 14 th February, and we are keen to involve schools and education settings to get involved in celebrating the week. National Apprenticeship Week has become a key point in the calendar where apprenticeships and skills take centre stage, attracting natio - The Sutton Trust joins the SEND Advisory Network to discuss ‘Double Disadvantage’
Jun 9, 2026 · original
Amazing Apprenticeships’ SEND Advisory Network consists of over 300 careers professionals from across England, meeting termly and representing mainstream schools, special schools, SEMH settings, employment services such as Jobcentre Plus, Local Authorities, training providers and employers. At our latest meeting on Thursday 4 th June, members were joined by Charlotte O’Regan, Schools Engagement Lead at The Sutton Trust , the UK’s leading social mobility charity. Charlotte shared key findings from two of The Sutton Trust’s research reports: Double Disadvantage? and Selective Inclusion . Double Disadvantage? The Double Disadvantage? report highlights the strong link between SEND and socio-economic disadvantage, showing that pupils facing both are more likely to experience poorer outcomes than their more affluent peers. It also reveals significant inequalities in access to support, with mid - Preparing for Adulthood in Essex: Supporting Young People Aspirations through The Bridge
May 7, 2026 · original
Across Essex, Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) is focused on ensuring young people with SEND are supported to achieve positive outcomes in employment, independent living, good health, and community inclusion. Central to this approach is listening to young people’s aspirations and ensuring the system responds in a coordinated, purposeful way. As part of Essex County Council’s PfA servce, The Targeted Employment Team (Essex County Council) works with young people aged 16–25 with SEND to ensure their views and aspirations are central to Preparing for Adulthood (PfA). We support young people to understand their choices and make informed decisions about post‑16 pathways, with a strong focus on positive employment outcomes. We work in partnership with young people, families, schools and colleges to raise awareness of employment pathways that are accessible, realistic, and responsive to individual - Genie Connect Summer Conference Series Launches with Strong Employer Engagement

The Genie Connect Summer Conference Series launched this week with a highly engaged and thought-provoking session, bringing together employers, training providers and partners to explore how we can unlock more Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeship opportunities for young people. Apr 21, 2026 · original
Here at Amazing Apprenticeships, we know how hard careers professionals are working to broaden students’ understanding of the world of work. We see how much energy and effort you put into talking about apprenticeships, T Levels and other options and it is making a huge difference. One area you’ve told us you’d like more support with is to help students to tap into one of the richest, most diverse parts of the labour market – small businesses . We know that career opportunities with small businesses can be overlooked by young people and their families, maybe because they haven’t heard of the employer, or perhaps don’t know that there could be a variety of career opportunities, with significant potential for growth and progression. That’s why the Small Business Summer campaign from Amazing Apprenticeships, supported by Edge Foundation, is such an important moment for schools and colleges. - Growing Adaptive Talent: Why Apprenticeships Matter More Than Ever
Mar 9, 2026 · original
“From every angle, the landscape is shifting.” That’s the current feeling for early‑career development and careers professionals are feeling that shift acutely. With employers facing widening skills gaps, government driving new participation targets, and Gen Z expecting “squiggly” careers shaped by real experience, apprenticeships are becoming a central lever for change. What’s changing – and why it matters Employers are increasingly using apprenticeships to build the talent they can’t recruit ready‑made. Savanta’s recent research with 500 HR leaders, shows that 46% reported using apprenticeships as part of their core training strategy , placing them alongside degrees and professional qualifications as a mainstream development route. Government policy is also accelerating adoption . With nearly one million young people aged 16-24 currently NEET , and more than 66% of young people choosin - Small Business Summer Campaign highlighting local opportunities for young people
Mar 6, 2026 · original
A brand-new national careers campaign, Small Business Summer , has been launched by Amazing Apprenticeships with support from the Edge Foundation, aiming to help young people discover the wealth of opportunities offered by small businesses in their local communities. Running throughout the summer term of 2026 (April to July), the initiative is designed for students in Years 7 to 13 and forms part of a wider effort to highlight the benefits of apprenticeships within smaller organisations. With 99% of UK businesses classed as SMEs, the campaign responds to a growing concern: young people often say they don’t know what jobs exist locally or how to access them. Small Business Summer directly addresses this gap by helping students explore nearby employers, understand the diverse roles available, and learn how small businesses recruit.
