St Vitus Cathedral is a Roman Catholic shrine located within the premises of Prague Castle, towering above Prague’s Lesser Town. Podyjí National Park is a natural protected area in the South Moravian Region situated along the border with Austria between the towns of Znojmo and Vranov nad Dyjí . Although it’s relatively small in size, it’s bursting with natural splendour. It lures travellers with its unspoiled charm, ubiquitous tranquillity, breathtaking views and hundreds of rare species of fauna and flora. Podyjí is a place every nature lover should see. The Czech name Podyjí refers to the region around the Dyje , a river famed for its fascinating meanders and green alluvial floodplains. Bítov Castle is an enchanting neo-Gothic castle towering above the deep waters of Vranov Reservoir. It is located near the confluence of the meandering Moravian rivers Dyje and Želetavka, close to the tiny village of Bítov, in the South Moravian region , 27 kilometres (16.8 miles) west of the town of Znojmo, Czechia. Founded in the 11 th century on the place of an old Slavic fortified settlement, it’s probably the oldest castle in the entire Podyjí (i. e. the area around the majestic river Dyje). And some say it’s also the most romantic one! For centuries the castle served as a cautious guardian of the southern border of the Czech lands. Wenceslas Square , in Czech called Václavské náměstí , or colloquially Václavák , is a large square in the New Town district of Prague . As a matter of fact, it doesn’t resemble a typical city square at all, but the Czech word náměstí is usually translated into English as “square”. Nowadays, it looks more like a boulevard or a wide two-lane street. Centuries ago, however, it was more like a square and was called Horse Market ( Koňský trh ). Wenceslas Square, together with Old Town Square , belongs to the most recognizable public squares in Czechia’s capital city. It’s very hard to miss it when you spend in Prague a few days or more. Hradec nad Moravicí Chateau , in Czech known as Zámek Hradec nad Moravicí , is a complex of buildings in the small town of the same name in the Silesian part of the Moravian-Silesian Region . It is the main tourist attraction of this Silesian town. Nad Moravicí means “upon Moravice”, as this is the name of the river which flows through this town. About The origins of Hradec nad Moravicí date back to the early Middle Ages. In the 8th century, there was a Slavic fort at the site. Sloup Castle is a small castle in the village of the same name in northern Bohemia . Its unique feature is its location: it is situated inside of a freestanding sandstone rock. And this rock gave the castle its name because sloup means is Czech “column”. The full name of the village is Sloup v Čechách, which means “Sloup in Bohemia”. It should not be confused with the town of Sloup near the Moravian Karst in South Moravia .
