Belgium’s Migration Minister, Anneleen Van Bossuyt, has defended her government’s talks with the Taliban on deporting Afghan asylum seekers convicted of crimes. She said the negotiations do not mean Belgium supports the group. On Friday, 2 October, Van Bossuyt posted a video of a speech she gave at a Ghent City Council committee meeting. She was responding to Ghent’s mayor, Mathias De Clercq, who had criticised her plan to deport Afghan offenders who have no valid residence permits. In the speech, Van Bossuyt condemned the Taliban’s treatment of women and girls. She said those policies are the reason Belgium gives asylum and protection to Afghan women and girls. She said, however, that Afghans whose asylum claims have been rejected and who are serving prison sentences in Belgium should be sent back to Afghanistan. She said some of them had raped underage girls. “Afghans who are in our co - Pakistan sees sharpest rise in violence since 2021 as deaths jump 83% in third quarter

It recorded 385 violent incidents across the country in the three months, which left about 1,415 people dead and 558 injured. The center said the rise ended a decline in violence seen in the first two quarters of the year. It called it the steepest quarterly increase recorded since 2021. Most of the bloodshed was in two provinces that border Afghanistan and Iran. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa together accounted for nearly 98% of all deaths in the quarter. Balochistan was hit hardest, with 829 people killed in 186 incidents. That is up 213% from the second quarter, when - Taliban Seek Russian Medicines After Pakistan Ban

Jalali also asked for Russian help to improve health services and train medical specialists. According to the Taliban, Murashko said Moscow was ready to expand technical cooperation in the health sector. Russia was the first country to formally recognize the Taliban government. In May, the two sides signed a military cooperation agreement. Gaps remain The Taliban ordered a halt to Pakistani medicine imports in November 2025, at a time of rising tensions with Islamabad. The violent confrontation that erupted on September 26 in Afghanistan’s Nuristan Province may prove to be one of the most consequential security developments since the Taliban seized power in August 2021. In Kamdesh District, more than 400 armed men, reportedly routed from Iran to Pakistan and attempting to cross into Afghanistan through the rugged Chitral corridor, who engaged Taliban border forces in a clash that left dozens dead and captured. Taliban officials claim 28 fighters were killed and 32 detained, with the remainder fleeing back into Pakistan. The Taliban, responsible for extensive human rights violations since their takeover, have framed the incident as evidence of a deepening rupture with Pakistan’s military and intelligence establishment. According to their narrative, captured fighters confessed to being encouraged by both Iran and Pakistan to reenter Afghanistan and ignit - Samira rebuilds livelihood through online sales after return from Iran

Samira told Amu TV that she had run a tailoring workshop producing boys’ clothing while in Iran, but after returning to Afghanistan she began working in sales for the Churma Design brand. She said the business gave her products to sell online and helped her get started without an initial investment. “We supported each other, and they gave me their products and helped me,” Samira said. “I was able to start selling online through Instagram without any capital. Today I have many followers, and many people buy from me.” Samira said migration had brought its own difficulties, including restrictions on daily life and a lack of the documents she needed. In a statement, the EU cited the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, which said it had confirmed that at least 10 civilians, most of them children, were killed and nine others wounded in the strikes. “We urge both sides to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue,” the EU spokesperson said. At the same time, the EU called on Taliban authorities to take what it described as effective action against terrorist groups operating in or from Afghanistan. The EU also said all parties must comply with international law, including international humanitarian law, protect civilians and civilian infrastructure and take all feasible precautions to prevent civilian harm. A senior Taliban official, who spoke to Amu TV, rejected Pakistan’s claim that Kandahar governor Mullah Shireen hosted representatives of the Baloch Liberation Army, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan and al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent at a meeting aimed at coordinating attacks inside Pakistan, calling the allegation “propaganda.” The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, denied that such a meeting took place. Pakistan’s military said Thursday that the meeting was held on Aug. 26 in Kandahar and was chaired by Shireen. Army spokesman Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry said representatives of several militant groups discussed coordinating manpower and operations as they faced pressure from Pakistani security forces. He did not publicly present evidence for the allegation. The Associated Press reported that an intelligence repor
