- How To Build Simple DIY Ledge Shelves For Kids’ Book Displays
Oct 2, 2026 · original
Love the look of those charming little book ledges in children’s rooms but not so much the price tag? Same. Or maybe you’re like me and want shelves that are just a smidge wider so they can pull double duty in holding favorite picture books eleven months of the year and an unreasonable number of bottle brush trees, tiny gingerbread houses, and other seasonal treasures in December. That was exactly our dilemma a few years ago, and here we are building another set for a room refresh . So grab your tools and come along for the ride! This easy to build, simple DIY ledge shelf tutorial is perfect for creating kid-friendly book displays. But they’re just as happy showing off family photos, artwork, holiday décor, or whatever little treasures make your home feel like yours. How To Make DIY Ledge Shelves Supplies 5/4″ Pine (for largest shelf board) 3/4″ Pine (for the front and back) 2″ Trim Head - Easy Fall Decorating Ideas To Transition Your Home From Summer
Sep 27, 2026 · original
Fall is here, and apparently our homes are expected to make the transition from breezy summer (or chaotic summer if you have kids at home) to cozy fall overnight. Meanwhile, I’m over here wearing my summer Birkenstock sandals and pretending this whole “new season” thing isn’t happening. But it’s time to trade those sandals for clogs and decorate for autumn. I’ve been in low-power mode for the last few weeks, so decorating my home for fall, normally one of my favorite things, is sounding suspiciously like a chore. I’m not interested in hauling twelve bins out of the basement, redecorating every room, working on easy DIY fall projects, or covering my house in pumpkins just because the calendar says September. So I’m taking the easy route. Instead of major redecorating or doing a big DIY project, I’m showing you how to make a few simple swaps that help your home leap from summer to cozy sea - Our Family’s Fall 2026 Bucket List (And My Personal Five)
Sep 16, 2026 · original
It’s fall, y’all, the quintessential kickoff to my favorite seasons (I’m a fall/winter girl 100%) and the slide through the best holidays. Because the arrival of fall brings Halloween and Thanksgiving, then a quick slide into the winter equinox, and the main event: Christmas. But before I get too ahead of myself, let’s focus on fall. Because with the fall equinox comes the time to trade in my Birkenstock sandals for my Birkenstock clogs (tell me you’re a Vermonter without telling me you’re a Vermonter), and make a fall bucket list. This here is my fall plan. And by plan I mean a loosely held set of ideas for things I would like to try, traditions to partake in, and cozy upgrades for our home to ring in the season. By no means do I consider a seasonal bucket list a “must-do” list. Because no one needs another set of things to squeeze into those few, precious free moments. It’s more of a “ - Make Your Own Framed Ski Trail Map Art Gallery Wall

Some of my all-time favorite home decor projects are the sentimental ones. I’m a big believer that our homes should be a reflection of who we are, which means I’m much more interested in filling them with the things that matter than whatever social media has currently decided we all need to buy. Give me a house full of memories, weird little treasures, and things with a story any day. So when our first home needed some affordable artwork to fill out a long, freshly renovated hallway , I went shopping in the most Angie way possible. I dug through a box of ski maps that had been hiding in my home to make a framed ski map art gallery wall, because skiing has always been one of my things. There are a few childhood hobbies that really stuck with me. One was making paper newspapers and collages, which, looking back, was apparently early training for becoming a content creator and running this - How To Build And Hang A DIY Wooden Clothes Rack On The Wall
Sep 4, 2026 · original
One of the challenges of having two growing girls share a bedroom is finding enough space for all their STUFF. Especially when said stuff includes an ever-expanding collection of dresses. Our girls love dresses. They love wearing them, looking at them, and apparently, flipping through them on a hanging clothes rack like they’re shopping in a very tiny boutique. Which is adorable until you realize the bedroom has approximately zero extra square feet for a boutique. Unless we get rid of the beds…hmmm. So when floor space is tight, sometimes you have to start looking up. Enter today’s DIY project: a simple DIY wooden clothes rack that hangs right on the wall. Our eldest daughter has a beautiful, vintage wardrobe (the basic furniture kind, not the magical Narnia kind) that somehow manages to hold her entire clothes collection. Our youngest, meanwhile, has a short dresser plus a couple of bas - 150+ Fall Bucket List Ideas & Free Printable For The Best Fall Ever

The air is getting crisp here in Vermont, the kids are back in school, and I may or may not have already had my first pumpkin spice latte of the season. Yes, I’m that girl. Technically, fall doesn’t start for a few more weeks, but I’ve always considered Labor Day and back-to-school season the unofficial beginning of fall. It’s a little reset button. The leaves haven’t quite gotten the memo yet, but I’m ready for cozy sweaters, apple cider, crunchy leaves, soup for dinner, and approximately 57 unnecessarily ambitious fall activities. Bring it, fall. So I put together the ultimate collection of fall bucket list ideas. Basically, a giant brain dump list of things to do and enjoy this season. There are family adventures, cozy things to do at home, seasonal decorating ideas, little ways to make everyday life feel more fall-ish, and even a few home maintenance projects for those of us who like - 12 Tips To Declutter Kids’ Clothes Easily For Back To School
Sep 2, 2026 · original
It’s that time of the year again: the great back-to-school kids’ clothes decluttering, organizing, and shopping time. I dread this task every single year. Mostly because this is the season that exposes that my kids somehow own 47 shirts (when they only wear dresses), three pairs of pants that fit (and don’t have holes), and approximately zero socks that have agreed to stay together. Hashtag every year. Before you hit the stores and start to panic buy school clothes, take a little time to clean out the closet, sort through everything (and I do mean everything), and send the too-small, too-worn, and mysteriously unloved clothes on their merry way. Whether it’s to the attic to be saved for a younger sibling, the thrift store, or the trash pile. A good closet declutter not only makes room for the new school-year wardrobe, but also gives you a chance to see what your kids actually have and, m - Secrets To Shopping The Brimfield Antique Flea Market Show

Ah, the Brimfield flea market and antique show in central Massachusetts. Brimfield has my heart. AND takes all my money every year. And with another show around the corner, it’s high time I share my Brimfield Flea Market guide and divulge all my secrets of the largest outdoor antiques show. The Brimfield Antique Flea Market in Massachusetts, more affectionately known as Brimfield, is a collection of sellers spanning dozens of different fields in the Brimfield area. Brimfield antique shows take over a long stretch of Palmer Road in Brimfield, MA. The show features thousands of vintage vendors, and it’s a great opportunity to hunt for vintage or antique finds. Think, massive flea market with a mix of traditional market vendors set next to booths with high-end curated fine antiques. After sharing the before tour of the hallways and staircase in our first home in Maine, it’s time for the after party tour. Because every good before tour deserves an after party renovation reveal, right? This is that reveal. Today, we’re touring both the first- and second-floor hallways, with plenty of peeks at the renovated staircase along the way. To keep this post from becoming a small novel, the stairway is getting its very own dedicated reveal. After all, she did receive some major press and deserves a spotlight like the diva she is. So, shall we begin?! First up, here’s the view from the front door, looking down the first-floor hallway toward the dining room and the kitchen. But before we talk first floor, let’s head upstairs, because for some reason, most of my pictures are a natural progression traversing from upstairs to downstairs and along the hall. It’s like I walked the rou - Tour of a Dated Staircase and Hallway Before a DIY Renovation

The (more detailed) before tour from our first home in Maine continues today (see full tour overview here ), and this time we’re wandering through the hallways and staircase. True to form, these spaces were absolutely committed to the 1970s renovation aesthetic: dark wood, faux-wood paneling, various shades of shag carpeting, and drop ceilings galore. This house was basically a time machine, a 1910 home that had been given a 1970s haircut. There were still a few hints of the original house hiding underneath, but the seventies had left their mark. The house had two hallways, one on each floor, connected by a staircase that wrapped from one to the other. Downstairs, the original hallway ran from the kitchen through the dining room, past the staircase and toward the front door and porch. The parlor and the living room branched off from this hallway as well. Upstairs, the hall connected all - How To DIY Bag Charms With Colorful Chunky Letter Beads
Aug 8, 2026 · original
Sometimes a maker just needs to make something. Preferably something vibrant, slightly unnecessary, and much more fun than the practical job of sorting through a closet to figure out which pants still fit. So this week, the kids and I made chunky letter bead bag charms for their backpacks, and honestly, it was a much better use of our time than back-to-school prep. Because summer isn’t over until we say it is, and apparently we are saying it is not over. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make your own DIY bag charms with chunky letter beads, plus I’ll share where to find all the supplies (because, as it turns out, finding the right chunky beads is its own little scavenger hunt). This is a ridiculously easy project and took us about 30 minutes to make five bag charms, which is approximately seven minutes longer than the maximum amount of time and fine motor skills my four-year-old an - DIY First Day Of School Flag With FREE Printable – PreK to 12

It’s back to school time, and as our family’s self-appointed master of memory-making and keeper of moments, I’m prepping for those first day of school pictures. As I’m writing this, my baby is weeks away from her FIRST day of school as a kindergartner. I believe the phrase I’m searching for to paint a picture of how I’m feeling right now is, “I’m not crying, you’re crying.” But it reminded me of a fun tradition we started when my eldest baby headed to her first day of preschool. I made a first-day-of-school flag to use as a photo prop to document these days. Making these school year props was super simple, and today I’m showing you how I made them so you can file this away for back-to-school time in the fall. It’s a fun summer craft project you can quickly tackle, and it uses supplies that you (if you’re crafty) likely have around your home. I also included some free printables at the en - 29 Best Veggies For What To Plant In A Fall Vegetable Garden

Let me paint a picture for you. It’s the height of summer; the days are sweltering, you’re constantly watering the garden in summer heat, but it never seems like enough, you’re drowning in zucchini, battling squash bugs, the weeds have overtaken…well…everything, and the last thing on your mind is a fall vegetable garden. But it’s time to start thinking about it and putting a plan in place because fall might be the garden’s best second act. But what vegetables should you plant in a fall garden? In this guide, I’ll walk you through what to plant for a fall garden, when to plant it (some fall crops need to be planted in the spring), and the one thing that changes everything: where you live. Because in gardening, timing is everything and your zip code gets a vote. I’ll share not only my favorite fall veggies to plant, but also some of my tried-and-true varieties. However, take it with a grai - 5 Steps For A One Day Room Makeover Without Spending Money

You know that room in your house? The one you don’t really use because it doesn’t have a good purpose, you don’t love it, it’s not cozy, the layout is weird, or (insert your excuse here). Those are the types of rooms that could really use a redesign and a quick makeover. Repurposing and making over a room does not have to be an extensive process or cost a lot of money. In fact, you can easily and quickly make over a room in one day. Let me show you how. I have a couple of rooms that could really benefit from this process, but today, as I share all the useful tips and steps for how to tackle a one-day room makeover, we’re going to turn our old nursery into an office space. We haven’t used the nursery in the last two years, and it’s been a glorified blanket fort room lately. Time for a glow-up, before-and-after! It’s a really small room in our home and is oddly positioned with a door to ou - From 1970s To Cottage Style Bathroom Remodel Before And After
Jul 20, 2026 · original
This cottage-style bathroom remodel was an absolute labor of love. We took this small bathroom from a dated, damaged, and cramped 1970s mess to a functional, bright and airy space. It’s still a small bathroom, but with a few tweaks, like stealing part of the neighboring closet that jutted into the bath, we were able to change how this room functioned. Here’s a look into the bathroom from the hallway. From this view, you can see the vanity to the left next to the tub and shower with the subway tiled wall peeking through. To the right, outside of the photo frame, is the toilet nook. Here’s a view of the toilet nook that is outside the frame of the photo above. One of my all-time favorite projects (and most budget-friendly project) was refinishing an old box and turning it into a medicine cabinet to hang on the bathroom wall. It was one of the things I was most sad to leave behind at our ho - Pink And Paneled 1970s Bathroom Tour Before A Remodel

One of the first projects we tackled while renovating our first home in Maine was a 1970s bathroom remodel. While it was missing a shag rug, it was chock full of 70s-style charm. It was the only bathroom in the house, and we had this genius idea to work on it in the one-month period we had both an apartment (with a working shower) and the new-to-us house. The thought process: it would be so much easier to tackle a bathroom renovation while not needing to use the bathroom. I have so much more to share about how that went, but first, let’s take a little trip down memory lane and with a deeper dive into the state of the bathroom. We shared a short snippet about the vintage bathroom feel in the full Maine house tour before remodeling , but here’s the full monty. Every paneled wall, light, and weird spot. Speaking of the walls… The paneling in this 70s bathroom was all the rage from the late
