Choose this day whom you will serve… As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD (Joshua 24:15) Greetings from Abuja, Nigeria where 347 Anglican bishops and 121 lay and clerical Anglican leaders from 27 provinces met from 3-6 March 2026, generously hosted by our brothers and sisters in the Church of Nigeria. The Chair of the Gafcon Primates’ Council, Archbishop Laurent Mbanda, announced the inauguration of the Global Anglican Communion in the October 2025 Martyrs’ Day Statement (MDS). As that statement foreshadowed, we met in Abuja both to “confer and celebrate the Global Anglican Communion.” We gathered together under the Word of God prayerfully to discern the Lord’s future for the Global Anglican Communion, founded on the person and work of Jesus Christ and the authority of his word, and his commission to make disciples of all nations. We met each morning for prayer, praise and hear - Global Anglican Communion Establishes New Council to Lead Its Mission

– “We Are Not Fighting Anybody; This Is Not About Gender or Female Leadership” – Archbishop Mbanda The Global Anglican Conference has announced a historic restructuring of its leadership framework with the creation of the Global Anglican Council, a new governing body designed to provide broader representation and shared leadership across the Global Anglican Communion. In a significant step that underscores a commitment to collaborative leadership, the GAFCON Primates have dissolved the GAFCON Primates Council, which has faithfully led and served the movement since its establishment in 2008. The newly constituted Global Anglican Council will now serve as the principal leadership body of the Communion. Unlike the previous structure, the Council comprises Primates, advisors, and guarantors, including bishops, clergy, and lay members, all of whom have full voting rights. The former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, has charged the Church to serve as the watchdog of society in light of the current state of the nation. Speaking at the ongoing Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Standing Committee meeting, holding at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church Osumenyi, Anambra State, Obi asserted that this role is imperative as the government is failing to ensure the welfare of the populace. In a blunt assessment of the nation’s leadership, Obi identified politicians as the primary problem facing Nigeria. He held the government responsible for the widespread poverty currently “tearing the nation to shreds” and condemned the prevailing state of insecurity across the country. Mr. Obi appealed to the Primate, Most Rev’d Dr. Henry Ndukuba, and the Church leadership to keep the nation in their intercessi - PARTNER WITH GOVERNMENT THE MORE: GOVERNOR SOLUDO URGES THE CHURCH
