  1. Analyzing Ocean Currents on Icy Moons, Europa and Enceladus
    Nov 30, 2024 · original
Abstract This study investigates the rotational dynamics of ocean currents on Jupiter’s and Saturn’s icy moons, Europa and Enceladus. The research aims to quantify the relationships between ocean depth, rotational forces, and the transit times of nano-sized silica particles. Numerical simulations were conducted to model the subsurface ocean dynamics of these moons. Python libraries, including Matplotlib for visualization and NetCDF for data management, were employed to process and analyze time-series data, enabling the examination of particle transit times in relation to varying ocean depths and rotational forces. The results demonstrate that the Rossby number governs particle transit times, adhering to distinct power laws: Ro−3/2^{-3/2}−3/2 for small Rossby numbers and Ro−2/3^{-2/3}−2/3 for large ones. Within the tangent cylinder—a region aligned with the moon’s axis of rotation—structu
  2. Internship at Los Alamos National Laboratory
    Jan 3, 2024 · original
During my geology field trip, I told my professor that I wanted an internship in the summer. So told me that she knew some people that might be able to get me an internship, and asked for my resume. Meanwhile, I applied for many planetary science and astronomy internships for the summer. One day in January, my professor told me that my resume is in Los Alamos, New Mexico. She also said that the people reviewing it worked on Mars, but she couldn’t guarantee that I would get selected. I was not expecting anything, but I thought that it would be great if I could get this opportunity even though Los Alamos is far from home. In March, I got an email informing me that I can work on a project involving rock coatings on Mars. I was very surprised that I got an offer. I read some papers that were sent to me and the project sounded interesting. The project was about identifying rock coatings that
  3. Friendship in College
    May 26, 2022 · original
I have always been in the same school, Stoneham schools so I never thought that I had to make new friends or worry about it, since even though I moved from elementary to middle to high school the class moved with me. However, college was different – I didn’t know anyone at MIT before I got admitted, so I hoped that I could fit in and make new friends. Since it has always been hard to make new friends, I had a few zoom calls in the summer to meet new students. Although it helped at the start of the year, I wasn’t able to keep in touch with any of the people I met in the summer soon after classes had started. However, I met some amazing people in my dorm, including my floormates. At first, it didn’t feel like I would be able to develop a close relationship with them but over time we got to know each other better. I also met some other people they know and got very close to some of them. My
  4. Lessons from first year of college
    May 26, 2022 · original
College is a big change for many students, which enables them to grow in various ways throughout the first year. As with all new steps in life, it leads to initial feelings of anxiety, nervousness along with a ‘yay’ kind of feeling, and I was no different thinking through all this in the summer of 2021. In the end, I wanted to get the most out of college in terms of learning, independence, life-long friendships and fun. Through the first year, I have grown since I needed to learn how to live independently in a new environment. In order to live alone independently, I needed to learn how to ask for help from new people like helping me carry my filled plate in the cafeteria, opening the doors that were not handicap accessible, carrying my walker where there was no accessibility, etc. I had some practice at that before college, but I needed to constantly do it at the beginning of the year. I
  5. Support from MIT
    May 26, 2022 · original
When I was entering MIT, I was worried about what I would do because there are very few people with disabilities at MIT, and I did not know anyone who had a physical disability like me. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised at how much everyone supported me. Inside the classroom, professors made sure that I am able to do the same activities as everyone else, and that my experience in the class is not impacted by my disability. They understand that I am flexible and am able to participate in class and do the same work as other students, and if I feel that I can’t for some reason, I will let them know. They are also very patient when I talk, and try to understand my speech. One specific example of a professor supporting me is when I had my first class in a gigantic lecture hall. I sent an email to my computer science professor telling me that I need some accommodations and I wanted to mee
  6. Harvard and MIT – I Made it!
    Apr 4, 2021 · original
Harvard and MIT – I have been dreaming of going to these colleges since the beginning of middle school. Even though I had aimed for these colleges since then, I did not think that I would actually get into them until the be precious evening of December 17, 2020, when I had gotten my Harvard acceptance. All of my hard work had turned into an amazing array of opportunities and experiences for my future. The more I read about Harvard, the more I loved it. Shortly after, I received a beautiful Harvard certificate highlighting my acceptance to Harvard that made me feel on top of the world. Then I got admitted to MIT on Pi Day (March 14, 2021) I was tremendously excited because I have gone to MIT quite a few times, and have had a great experience there, so I can only imagine how fun it would be like to study over there. A few weeks later, I received a beautifully organized gift box from MIT wi
  7. My Presentation at the Massachusetts Junior Academy of Science Symposium
    Dec 26, 2020 · original
I was thrilled to present my project, ‘Machine Learning based Speech Recognition App for individuals with speech disorders’ at the Massachusetts Junior Academy of Science Symposium. This project won the first prize in Massachusetts Science and Engineering Fair, $500 Foundation Medicine award, US Air Force Academy Award and US Naval Science award. It is very close to my heart, since it is a step in a direction that helps me and many other people like me that have a speech disorder. I prepared for the virtual presentation and the questions. I was never sure what could be asked but I knew that I had to be ready to answer as fast as possible. So, I practiced and practiced. Once the presentation finished, I was sure I did good, but I was still nervous. It is a tough competition, one has to be nervous, right? Two days later, I got an email saying that I came second in the symposium. YAY!!! I w
  8. My Sweet Sixteen
    Sep 14, 2020 · original
My birthday is right at the beginning of December, which is perfect because it gears me up for the holiday season although sometimes I wish that it was near the summer when it is warmer. Nevertheless, birthdays have always been a day of fun, surprises, and celebration for me. This birthday was no different in terms of fun and surprises, however, a 16th birthday just has its own special feeling – the feeling of sweet 16 . The feeling that puts one in a dreamy, starry night thinking about the excitement of the years ahead! My birthday was on Sunday, but it all started two days early. A Friday evening with a hibachi dinner with a few of my friends in Tulips – one of my favorite restaurants close to my home. We had a great experience seeing all of the food being cooked right in front of us. Then came the cake with a special flower-shaped candle that played music while opening up. I loved it!
  9. Helping During Covid-19

Founded the Covid-19 Stoneham Mutual Aid Hub chapter which I am currently managing: Goals: provide valuable information to people during Covid-19 times provide help to people in need by connecting them with volunteers that are ready to provide help Connected people via a Request\Offer Help Form that people can fill to request for help in activities such as delivering groceries and prescriptions, pet sitting, providing transportation, and preparing meals. Other people can also use the form to volunteer to do the activities for people who asked for help. Matched the requests appropriately to get help for people in need Started a fundraiser in GoFundMe Raised more than $1000 dollars Used $300 to buy Walgreens Gift Cards for the Stoneham Senior Center so the money can be used for co-payments of prescriptions etc. Used $250 to buy Stop & Shop gift cards for the food pantry at the First Congre
