  1. Practicing discernment
    Jul 16, 2026 · original
Much of what I do comes down to one thing: consciously choosing and supporting what gives life, over what dims it. Moving away from what diminishes potential. That sounds big, and while it can be quite the hassle at times, it lives in small things. When you see it, you can’t not see it. It’s in looking for that moment when eyes light up. Noticing the instant movement toward or away from something. It’s taking a right turn instead of a left, when things look brighter on the right (try it!). It’s deciding what needs to leave your calendar so it doesn’t constrict your mojo. In a conversation that opens instead of shuts down. In a rhythm that follows what’s already there, in your body, in the year, instead of imposing a construct that ignores your truth. Discernment is exactly this to me: feeling the difference between the two and then actually choosing the life-giving one over the one that
  2. The big in-between
    Jul 13, 2026 · original
I’m in the middle of a transition and have no idea what comes next. Time and space have been feeling distorted for a while now (you know that’s the sign of liminal space, right?). Not talking months or weeks, years. I can sense the new coming, but can’t feel into it yet. So ready for some solid ground under my feet, an understanding of who I am again. I know, this is the time for more ritual than task. More hands in the earth, more softness in my body. More listening, less chatter or striving. What clearly doesn’t help, at least not the way I’d want it to, is looking outside myself for someone to tell me the right direction. There are some clues the universe is dropping. I don’t know yet if I’m actually listening, or just tired of not being able to. The post The big in-between appeared first on Annemieke Verhoeff .
  3. Questions that make a difference
    Jul 19, 2024 · original
Can you remember the last time you felt moved by the right question? I’m a big believer in the value of asking questions. To me, it is refreshing being with people that hold questions. It’s an art form. One that I’d like to see practiced more, by many of us, as a tool for discovery, creativity and alignment. When I facilitate a meeting or workshop, I begin with asking questions as a tool for focus and connection. Here is a ‘how to’ for using check-ins as a start of your meetings. But asking questions is not only valuable at the beginning of a meeting. It is also very effective when, for example, a group is stressed or restless and you’re looking for an intervention without dominating or taking over responsibility. And of course questions are a great way to get to know each other. In this post I’ll give you some examples of questions you can use. The last few months, I’ve tracked which qu

  5. Getting started with a check-in? Here’s how to.
    May 31, 2024 · original
Doing a proper check-in has a great effect on your collaboration. You have to take some time for it, though, to avoid it becoming an unconscious routine. In this blog you’ll read my tips on how to use the check-in as a tool for more focus, attention and connection in the meeting that follows. What is a check-in? Imagine checking in at an airport: you go to the counter and confirm you are present. Like all other travelers do. The travel operators know who is there, what destination you are flying to and what luggage you are carrying. Your journey begins. In a professional context, a check-in is a round along all participants at the beginning of a meeting, where each one checks in for him or herself and indicates what has their attention at that moment. With the aim of letting go of anything that might be distracting and being wholly present for the conversation. And fully focus on the int
