The cool thing about getting a new iPhone is The smoothness of the experience. Unless you're new to iOS, everything is always exactly the same. The thing that sucks is also that it's always exactly the same. You get a brand new iPhone, set it up, and five minutes later you've somehow had it for six years.

I spent a few days (couple hours a day) vibecoding a mac app for my personal archive notes and my work notes. Turns out I was vibecoding a shitty version of Obsidian. Lesson learned, again 😬

Watched Tony last night. I've always been inspired by Anthony Bourdain, but now I feel like I'm going fully into the rabbit hole of rewatching No Reservations, Parts Unknown, etcétera. My partner is just learning about the guy. I already have Roadrunner ready for her, and I'm so excited. Don't you love the recommendation high when somebody you appreciate doesn't know something you deeply care about? I'm riding that high right now.

I started journaling again this weekend, after a couple of months of inactivity. I'm surprised every time by the mental clarity and peace it brings.

New bitter-old-man rule: I don’t open any YouTube video recommendation that has a cryptic baity title and/or thumbnail, period. We’re turning into gullible children. I won’t have that, fuck you very much.

This is a good week. I came back from my trip to Chihuahua to find two new records at my door: Papota by CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso and Thank You, by Mike D. The first one already shows wear marks on my Apple Music account. The second one fills me with joy: it's the first new thing related to Beastie Boys to arrive in many, many years (excluding the half-assed documentary, that is). It's also Apple Event week, and my kids arrived home today. Not much else I can ask for right now.

That was a hell of a routine break . Now I just need a leg massage and an Ibuprofen.

Last week my psychiatrist switched me from methylphenidate to Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine). I was on high dosage of methylphenidate without much effect. I basically planned my work day around the couple of hours right after the pills. Vyvanse though... oh shit. I'm focusing so hard on things. I'm undistracted, I monotask like never before, and I'm always in a good mood (partially because of the stimulant effects, partially because I. am. getting. so. much. done.) Anyway, I wanted to share. If you have ADHD, take your meds. If they don't work, tell your doctor.

Marking the moment: this is the first federated post from axel.mx as a fediverse server. Turns out it wasn't, but this site is now a part of the fediverse (!). Follow at site@axel.mx in Mastodon :) This website is not being federated as their own fediverse entity anymore. Lesson learned. ¯\ (ツ) /¯

I trust Apple a bit more than Google. Not because Apple is a charity, but because their business model is selling me hardware, not selling my behaviour. Google's incentive is to watch me, Apple's incentive is to upsell me. I prefer the latter. — Adële's Blog, The perfect equipment set

As a general rule, computers are much faster and much dumber than people think they are. They mostly just fake being smart by being dumb really fast. I don't know where I got that quote from, but I found it in my ephemeral notes today and made me chuckle :).

On ADHD and productivity: Most productivity advice is built for neurotypical brains. Linear. One thing at a time. Sit down, focus, finish. That’s not how my brain works. My brain is parallel, associative, pattern-matching, constantly firing. It’s not broken. It’s just running different software. Siddhi Mittal, How I Made ADHD My Superpower This reminds me of that time where everyone used windows and, as a mac user, following a tutorial for anything required translation, adaptation, and searching for equivalences. And most of the time it didn't work anyway.

What a game I just saw. Argentina vs Egypt. That comeback! I don't even really like futbol, but I'm in that temporary state of exception that happens every four years. And this game... I wish Mexico vs England last Sunday had been this one. But it wasn't, and right now I'm very happy for my Argentinian friends and for watching this absolutely fierce piece of futbol. Or Soccer, whichever one you'll have. Fuck FIFA, though.

I just took this test to find My AI Compass , and although I doubt it has any scientific validity, it was amusing that the result is pretty much spot on with what I think. The Shrug AI is a thing that exists and you regard it with detached amusement, like everything else. It's overhyped, sure, but so is most stuff. You'll use it when it's useful and ignore it when it isn't, and you find the discourse more interesting than the technology. You are unbothered. Via Gorkula .

There's a bit of a parallel there between journaling and vomiting: doesn't feel good in the moment, but afterwards you're like "thank god I got that out of me". Campbell Walker (Struthless), Journaling but make it punk .

The current state of spam calls and messages is ridiculous. But before, or in addition to legislation, because that’s slow, complicated and scammers just don’t care, we need immediate tools on our end. What about a way to effectively ignore any non-contact call or text on my phone? No “silence” or a special list. Just make it not exist. I don’t want them to even reach me.

Meta update: I just added memories to the homepage list of content and to the everything page. It feels more complete.
