    It s that time of the year again. How SHOULD the college football playoff look. It s not all that dissimilar from the current playoff in structure. It s just about how teams are selected and seeded. The TLDR is that all conference champs get in. The top 4 conference champs get byes. Admittedly it was a better format when we had a couple more high quality but smaller conferences. If you still had a functioning Pac-12, then Oregon would probably be in here too. Alas… conference realignment. Still I m sticking to it. So first the conference champs Indiana Georgia Texas Tech Tulane JMU Duke Boise State Kennesaw State Western Michigan That leaves 3 at large spots. Ohio State is obviously the first one. The last 2 would go between Oregon, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M. At the at large spots, non conference scheduling is crucial. A&M played at Notre Dame and won. They re in. Ole Miss and Oregon had p

    Great stuff from Om Malik. But I disagree with this… The smartphones didn’t kill the desktop or the notebook computer — it just took away its preeminence as a platform of technology’s future. The “AI” devices are going to do the same for the smartphone — not today, but eventually. These devices will do nothing to replace smartphones. The only interesting thing they’re doing is integrating AI into core OS features. Smartphones are doing and will continue to do this more. In ways these devices can’t. And nothing about these devices’ form factor or interaction model is truly novel. Something will replace the smartphone eventually. And its neat that these devices exist and are trying stuff out. But the smartphone will assimilate everything these devices are doing LONG before they’re a threat.

    Even setting aside the argument that the reason Apple should maintain the App Store and SDKs because it DIRECTLY BENEFITS THEM. They get software people want which is why people buy iPhones and iPads. Is there anyone looking at what Apple has done with the App Store in 15 years thinking yes my 30% has been money well spent? The only reason most developers use the App Store and Apple s payment SDKs is because they don t have a choice.     Some good notes here from Rui Peres on meetings. Honestly I’d expand a little on points 3,4, and 5. Only invite whoever is necessary, make sure someone is taking notes, and share those notes with everyone. I’m not sure this isn’t what he means. But I would make sure meeting notes are available/shared with everyone outside the meeting. This makes it easier to be specific about who you invite while keeping information open to those who weren’t invited.

    Station Eleven Yes I know this is cheating. Since it debuted and mostly aired in 2021. And I definitely would have included it on my list in 2021. But I just loved it that much. I’ve watched it repeatedly this year. It took a solid book and elevated it in so many ways. I just want to spend more time with Jeevan and Kirsten. The Bear This show is just perfectly in by wheelhouse. Food porn cinematography. The talented chef using his talents for dumpy styles of food. Men trying to process grief together but having no idea how. Stressful, emotional, AND hilarious. Andor This was probably my most anticipated show of 2022. And it lived up to the hype. The most terrifying representation of the empire I’ve seen. Tony Gilroy is good at this. I hope this is a lesson for Disney. Let talented creators cook. Reservation Dogs This show just continues to produce bangers. It’s hilarious. It makes me cry

    The college football regular season is over. Aside from Army-Navy. Man what is college football going to do when one of those teams is in playoff contention… anyways lets see what proper playoff would look like. Automatic Bids Conference Team AAC Tulane ACC Clemson Big 10 Michigan Big XII Kansas State CUSA UTSA MAC Toledo MWC Fresno State Pac 12 Utah SEC Georgia Sun Belt Troy At Large Bids TCU Ohio State This is gonna be fun! First lets get our top 4 conference champs with their byes… Georgia Michigan Clemson Utah And now, our first round of matchups. All on site at the campus of the higher seed. TCU vs. 12. Toledo Ohio State vs. 11. Fresno State Kansas State vs. 10. UTSA Tulane vs. 9. Troy Remember we reseed in the second round so Georgia would play the lowest seed winner at Georgia. Michigan would play the second lowest, etc.

    The amount of content I shoved into my Evernote notebooks back in the day is obscene. Recipes. Scanned documents. Photos. Class notes. I imagine I’ll look back on my Craft notes in 10 years and wonder whether sticking all that in there was really necessary 😅

    Got an updated version of my college football playoff after this week s games. Just a couple minor changes UCF s win over Tulane puts them in the driver s seat for the AAC USC benefits from Oregon s loss and becomes my guess at the Pac-12 s automatic qualifier
